    Buicks

Dave Hemker currently has the best Buick on our side of the fence. He was interested in the PS spot before. I believe he has experience with slicks also as I recall.

I do not want to co-op the big car shoot-out thread. I love that idea guy's, way cool. :beer I would love to see an SD Cat in there with the other big dogs. Anyone got a 300H Hurst to run also? Or a 440+6 Fury?

Brian how are you going to drive the two Mercs at once? They both need to be there.

I have a 65 2+2 convertable,421HO ,4-SPEED,frame off about 60% done, could easily have it done by psmcdr. What a tank though!! Only bad is that it has a 3.42 open rear.I wonder if Ken ever sold the 66 Bonne, any extra rears Kenny? Iwould love to do a 62 Catalina SD,with some of the repo SD Parts available it would be doable, make mine a red Ventura :TU: 421SD,4-SPEED :3gears: ,WHEW i am getting excited!

Hey Dave D...the Hot Rod H&B shootout wouldn't happen to scheduled for one of their Drag Week stops by any chance would it?

I suspect your running a 12 bolt, I just happen to have a 3 series 12bolt Posi carrier on the shelf. It has a GM 4.56 on it with a spacer plate right now.

The 12 bolt Chevy and the big Pontiac rear are not the same. The Pontiac has a 10 bolt cover and a 12 bolt ring gear. While both have a 8 7/8" dia ring gear the pinion gears are very different. The Pontiac pinion is longer and the rear pinion bearing is larger diamater (1.8xx"). Parts for these axles are extremely hard to find so when I was looking for a higher (numerically) ratio for my Bonneville, I was VERY LUCKY to locate a NOS 4.11 gear set and lucky yet again to stumble across a drum to drum 3.42 saf-t track axle at a local Pontiac swap meet. Since the same series carrier is used for ratios 3.23 and up. I was in like flynn.

John Glasgo to have a PM.

So far we have a 4 car --- BIG car field.

    421HO 4spd Pontiac 2+2 Catalina -- John Glasgo

    409/425 4spd Chevrolet BelAir -- Charlie Lombardi

427/425 4 spd Mercury Marauder -- Brian Stefina

    427/425 4spd Chevrolet Biscayne -- Casey Marks

Larry has a 409X409 Biscuit at Dan's. Black and red with a four spd, radio delete, no armrests, visors etc. A real stripper. 4.11 gear I recall.

I am sure it could be raced. The motor is being rebuilt currently.

OK - to TOTALLY derail a Hemi vs. Stage 1 thread ..............

Let's say that we keep it to something like 6 big cars total. ALL must be 4 speeds. We'll do NOTHING official. It will all be for fun. What we can do is simply run our little shootouts during time trials. No time taken from anything else.

    Just as a reference:

Charlie's 409 runs low 13's. I think he's the fastest out of the group so far.

Brian's Mercury is right there in the 13.20's.

My Biscayne has run a best of 13.44. But I have some new ammunition for '06. :blast:

So we can shoot for the fastest 4spd big car with a 13-second time slip as the goal. :Smarty:

Of course, Charlie will probably cheat and run high 12's and screw us all.

Sept the 10th in Cordova.. Sunday the day of the shoot-out is actually a test-n-tune day for drag week. If something goes wrong or anything like that we will just follow the caravan to the next track. :)

What a coincidence, Dave...I hope to have a car done for the Drag Week thing...just an innocent little 4-cylinder... :Brow:

Mission Accomplished! I have a set of rods to add to my pile of chevy parts. I pick up the block on Monday and it all goes to the engine shop, keep your fingers crossed.

That's exactly what TnT should spawn: impromptu challenges. Folks shouldn't need a special stage. Just pair-off and go at each other. The results will give everyone plenty of fodder for Friday night in the hotel 'pits' -- BBQ pits that is!

    FAST race

I'm not sure if I am reading this correctly but are you looking for FAST Buicks?I am currently building a FAST drive train for a 70 GS. I have been talking to Greg Gessler and Mike Tomasewski for advice on building and rule clarifications etc. It should be ready to go by June. Then it's a case of getting the bugs out and I was planning on coming to the east coast in late August early Sept. I don't have a long list of credentials but have raced at Bowling Green, Norwalk, and Reynolds where I was fortunate enough to come away with King of the hill for the Stock appearing race there in 2001 I believe it was. Anyway I will be shooting for being available. However I'm a little mixed up on what event is which. I have every reason to beleive the car will be competetive. That is what I have to offer in the way of a resume' So once we give it a shake down I'm in. Tom
