Face it Kubisch if a democrat with no standards wrote this attachment you wouldnt have give it another thought. And since a man with moral integrety did it (religious or not) your upset. Its attitudes like yours that have allowed the line to be drawn backwards in the sand. And since Im on the subject I think I will call my dad and tell him that I now know why he was so hard on me as a kid......

Cruising for parts and I came across this thread and now I have to chime in. Probably not for the best, but here it goes.

I have to say after reading this and hearing some of the arguments people are using is exactly why this country is seriously disliked around the world. Fact is most Americans believe the world only revolves in America. Whether they admit it or not they don't factor in the rest of the world. Please don't think I am not a patriot because spent over a decade serving my county. I have visited over 35 countries and spoken with lots of the worlds people on my travels. Even spent a couple of years living in Italy were I saw some of the most obvious racism I have ever seen. One thing they have in common is THEY DONT LIKE US.

Most of the people I talked to felt we (America) tried way too hard to force our way of life on them. They want us to leave them alone and not try to solve their problems for them. It is the bad political policies and these damn police actions not war that has gotten us into this mess. Korea, Vietnam, and IRAQ have all been police actions along with Haiti and several over unpublicized actions I have personally taken place in.

I will totally disagree with everyone in here quoting that religion isnt an issue to this mess. It is a large piece of the problem. I dont see the Saudi people sending missionaries to America trying to convert Christians to Muslims. Although small to you, it is a very pompous message sent to people who have nothing to live for in these countries when we go where it is against their law to practice Christianity and try to convert them. I also saw someone in here saying atheists are trying to force their beliefs on them. Nonsense! When was the last time you saw an atheist on the corner telling you were going to hell for believing with your kids in the car? The problem with religion is everyone between me and my relationship with god.

As for the political tyranny of our country .Where do you begin? I feel whether you believe in GW or not you need to scrutinize the decisions he has made. From quoting God to the mentioning our fight against terrorists is a crusade. You arent offended if you are a Christian but what if you are a Jew? Atheist? Muslim? and many others. His mentioning of these things says America is a Christian nation when in fact we are a religiously neutral nation. At least the Constitution says so the last time I checked. Some one also mentioned they arent forcing religion on me. I would have to disagree. Every day I see my family member with Alzheimers deteriorating is a reminder that his hope with stem cell research is all but gone.

I will touch only briefly on the FCC issue. I like the fact this country is free but I would say even what Howard Stern does is lame to what I saw every day in Europe. The fact is there is a lot of uptight people in this country that cant mind there own business. The dial is there turn it. Some brought up the Janet Jackson mess. Well yes this started it but lets analyze the problem Saggy boob was shown inappropriately. OK bad taste lets punisher her and move on. But what happened is out of a 40 million viewer audience they received 200,000 complaints. If my math is correct a .05% we now have to look at the removal of several programs enjoyed by millions. What the &*^*&^*?

Oh and please stop with the country was founded on religion. It was indeed fouded on Bullsh** and still runs ramped today. You only have to read All men created equal to understand that. After all everyone was equal as long as you were a white male.

while i hate to enter a political thread, i got to say something.

i am basically not too big on censorship, and i know i can turn off the tv, or change the channel, but the bad influences these kids pick up now days will still affect me when i go out to most any public place and even in my home. they watch the tube, or listen to some gangsta rap c%@p, or some pile o puke shock jock, and they think that rape, robbery, murder, and so many other rude, crude and socially unacceptable things are now acceptable conduct. so, yes i can change the channel, but i will still be adversely affected by the filfth on tv and radio because of the way it influences others.

tv morals went into a free fall starting in the early 80s, and it really has gone too far. i dont like the govt telling me what to do, but enough is enough. its about time the FCC did something about all the garbage on the tube and radio.

    what bumper sticker ?

Reconciling Yourself to the Fact of Sin
This is your hour, and the power of darkness (Luke 22:53).

Not being reconciled to the fact of sinnot recognizing it and refusing to deal with itproduces all the disasters in life. You may talk about the lofty virtues of human nature, but there is something in human nature that will mockingly laugh in the face of every principle you have. If you refuse to agree with the fact that there is wickedness and selfishness, something downright hateful and wrong, in human beings, when it attacks your life, instead of reconciling yourself to it, you will compromise with it and say that it is of no use to battle against it. Have you taken this hour, and the power of darkness into account, or do you have a view of yourself which includes no recognition of sin whatsoever? In your human relationships and friendships, have you reconciled yourself to the fact of sin? If not, just around the next corner you will find yourself trapped and you will compromise with it. But if you will reconcile yourself to the fact of sin, you will realize the danger immediately and say, Yes, I see what this sin would mean. The recognition of sin does not destroy the basis of friendshipit simply establishes a mutual respect for the fact that the basis of sinful life is disastrous. Always beware of any assessment of life which does not recognize the fact that there is sin.
Jesus Christ never trusted human nature, yet He was never cynical nor suspicious, because He had absolute trust in what He could do for human nature. The pure man or woman is the one who is shielded from harm, not the innocent person. The so-called innocent man or woman is never safe. Men and women have no business trying to be innocent; God demands that they be pure and virtuous. Innocence is the characteristic of a child. Any person is deserving of blame if he is unwilling to reconcile himself to the fact of sin.

Your playing on the whole minority/majority rule, religious/athiest, white/black, etc. If we had 80% athiest and 20% religious, do you think it would be a little different?

And about the "rate of crime" going up, is this in comparison to population? I can say that "murders have gone up" about an island of 200 people if someone was killed there 400 years ago.

people can CHANGE THE FRIGGEN CHANNEL, but they will still be affected by the lower morals of society caused by the garbage on tv and radio.

if someone doesnt believe that, i must ask them,.......... how friggen stupid are you??????????

i am not familiar with brownback, but this world could use alot more people like mike garrison.

    Henry,
Howard Sterns name came up becouse he is what the legistlation is aimed at. With this new law the FCC can search through archives and fine Howard personally for alleged infractions that occured as many as 3 years ago, while ClearChannel, (a major Bush contributor) who had no problem airing the so called filth for the last ten years and reaping the monetary benefits of selling advertising for the number 1 morning show in each of the markets they held cut a deal with the Gov't, payed a onetime "fine" and cant be touched again.
This is heavy handed racketeering by an administration to single out a single broadcaster who has come out on the air
    against this administration.
You have every right to turn it off, and I respect your right to do so, but at least admit what this really is, a witch hunt.

for more facts I invite all to look at some of the article's here........

    Gary,

I'm glad your a real nice guy. Really, I mean that. Bummer your put off by religion. A bad experience with someone, or a group, that claimed they were Christian? Anyone can claim they are something they aren't. I say I'm a billionaire!! But the bank accout is still empty. All of youns need to be thankful you live in a country were you can reject our creator without getting murdered! Your blessing begin there!

Who said religion is about the almighty dollar? I'd like that explained. You don't like that the church rely's on donations to run? None of its yours anyway. You are living for a brief period of time on Gods earth. When you die, you take none of it with you.

Howard Stern never had anything worth saying in the first place. He talks dirty cause he can and for no other reason. I'm glad he's gone cause he was jamming up the alternative rock station here in the mornings. Now I can occasionaly listen to some new rock on the way to work.

Morality does matter. Shall we all continue to morally degrade? Lets call murder and crimes against children a right!! Sounds absurd? Just wait, its coming. Stand for morals now, your children will thank you.

My greatest well wish to all of you is that you would truly discover God and except Christ's death as atonment for your sin. This is not something forced upon you by me of your Government, its just the best well wish I can give. Wishing/Hoping/praying for all the best for youns,

As long as Howard was on at 1am or on a tv network that was paid be the viewer (ex. HBO, Showtime, etc.) it's okay with me if he keeps his show. With all the different uncensored programming they offer, he'll fit right in. The big thing here is he's on the public airways and that's when the government has the right to step in. If he's on any other media outlet that's unsanctioned by the government, he can do what he pleases. I also believe anything around 10pm or later into the early morning on the radio is uncensored, so he would be fine too. The supporters of Howard on this board want to keep his show on the morning when driving or at work, but I guarantee you a majority of people in America would disagree with keeping it on the air if asked to listen to it everyday. There were times I listened to it while running over the road, but it got boring after awhile. I know if I had children with me is when I know I wouldn't be listening to it. Being the show isn't that important to me, my respect for the people who have children makes my mind up on not having a problem with Howard being off the airwaves. It all boils down to respect for other people. What you do in your house is none of my business, but if your out on the street doing it in public, I guarantee there's going to be a problem.

As far as morals go whats wrong with keeping kids...kids. Its pretty bad now when you come home from work drive down the street and see some hot little chicky that turns out to be your 13yr old neighbor! Give me a break! Where does it stop Gary? Orgies in central park every night...hey as long as everybody excepts it RIGHT! Whats wrong with a little inocense untill they get to be 18 or so.Howard Stern and every person that is speaking on public air ways needs to be more aware of the effect they have on society. Now if he wants to be on a pay satelite channel then more power to him and there should be no boundaries he cant cover! And i would be a paying listener!!! Heck its even ok if are President is married and getting a bj from some fat slob(sorry)in our white house!Like Mike said where do you stop the line at?Im neither religous or political but i do know what i see with my own eyes, and what i see is a degradation of morals in this country now compared to when i was 15!Has this had an effect on me probably not, but what about the kids...well from what i see it has !:eek2:Interesting topic Gary. Keep those front wheels in the air! :3gears:

You're right. Bill Clinton apparently "believed" he had the right to turn the oval office into a whore house while Osama Bin Laden was running around planning 9-11.

The war effort and ethical broadcasting practices are mutually exclusive. I fail to see how one is detracting from the other. :puzzled:

That said, in and of itself, while I was younger I used to listen to Stern all the time. He got out of hand sometimes and he probably deserves what he gets. BUT, if they "single him out" and leave everyone else alone, that's BS. Plus, we better be careful we don't go too far with this censorship crap , because I'm not for that either. It seems the government either takes it too far one way, or too far the other.

The war has no effect on this though, which was my original point. Everybody says "why don't we worry about important stuff?" as if we left Howard Stern alone the war war on terror would go much smoother. :puzzled:

I don't agree with piggybacking bills, and I don't like censorship. We have to be careful to keep the government in check, so they don't take anything else away from us. Now that I have that out of the way...
All of you who are trying to justify bad and indecent behavior that is accessible to everyone should be ashamed of yourself. The fact is that things have changed in this country, and for the worse. There is a direct connection between morality of a nation and it's overall health in every way. If you think there isn't, you're fooling yourself!
I listened to Stern for a long time... something I'm not proud of these days. I decided to make a change to be a better man, and so I turned him off. I realized I was wrong, and made a change.
If there is no right or wrong, except what a person decided for him/her self, anything at all can be justified. You people don't realize that you're poisoning your minds and the minds of your children with this filth. Just like poison hurts the body, your mind is sick because of it. Those that are justifying it's existance under with the freedom of speech are guilty of poisoning their neighbors.
You will pay! You will see a once great nation fall for it's sins. Go ahead and say I'm nuts, but you're blind.
I understand that many of you don't believe in God or the Bible. You have to understand that we (Christians) don't expect you to. We offer you the choice to have something better, but in no way do we make you do anything!
Here is what God has to say to America:
From the Bible, the book of Proverbs:
1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 1:24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 1:27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 1:29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 1:30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Just a thought. I wonder if all of the Stern supporters would offer the same freedom of speech support to a pervert neighbor that constantly said and did obscene things in front of all of the children in their neighborhood? I really don't see a difference between the two, except one makes a whole lot of money by doing it, and the other would probably end up in jail.

Amen brother. We may not agree on everything politically, but you are right on target with your above statements. Especially with the permissive style media you eluded to. One thing to also remember is that the values of parents are directly handed down to their children and what a large portion of today's parents deem as acceptable scares the living crap out of me.

Oh now thats a realistic analogy. My 5 year old does not listen to HS, none of the half a dozen or so kids on our block that populate our back yard on a daily basis listen either, we exercise control over what our child has available .
as I would expect most parents do, but I have a big problem with a government who will fine him for a fart joke
and not recipricate when Oprah describes in detail how to perform a BJ, at 9 AM in our market on free TV. See the double standard there?
the difference is Oprah is not vocal about getting Bush out of office, and Howard is.

Did you see where our VP shouted down a Democratic Senator at a picture taking ceremony on the house floor at the capitol?
I beleive he yelled at the Senator to "go F*#" himself" .
Now thats setting a good example for the kids.
