    Jon,

It looks like a great job you are doing with this grille project. I am ready to sign up for one of your future grilles. The one in my GSX has some cracks and would like to replace it with something nice!
Good luck with this and let me know when I can get one!!!

    Jon,
Are you still playin with those patch panels? Let me know when you get a few more grills out and I am very interested in getting from you. Let me know if you are needing any parts for your rebuild I might have it or find it here in Texas.

Yeah, I am finishing up the pathes on the doors. I havent forgotten abotu the grills, its just that my baby is due in 4 weeks, and I am trying to get all the loud grinding metal fab work out of the way before he shows up. Then I can work on quite no noise grills. After the next step that I am taking righ tnow, the grills will be straight. I am just not working on them full force right now. They will be in prod mode soon.... I will let you know.

Wow, it looked alot different when it left Tampa. I will call them tomorrow and find out what the steps are. I know its insured up to $100, and thats the value I placed on the receipt. Sorry, I spent a lot of money packiing that thing. You dont suppose they didn't have room in the bed of the truck so they just drug it behind the truck? :Do No:

Anyhow, I will keep in touch.

Well, well, well ! Welcome to the world of UPS!
I think Jon should have written FRAGILE all over it, that way
the grill would have showed up in a million pieces!
    Gotta love UPS!:af:

Oh yes, expect the claim to take 2-3 months
    before you get paid!:Dou:

    Jon,
Don't be too surprised. I shipped a pot metal grille to a board member a few months ago and they managed to get that one into pieces also. If you know how sturdy those grilles were you can imagine the abuse these packages must be subjected.
It is most likely a result of their automation process.
Better start considering extra heavy cardboard or wooden crates to ship them. Just another add to the cost of repro.
    Good luck.

Here is a shipping tip, shhhhhhhhh, top secret!

How do you spell quality shipping???? FedEx:Smarty:

    Here's a secret...

Try something OTHER than cardboard! You NEED build a shipping create (from wood and screws) for each grille IF you want them to arrive in ONE piece!:Smarty:

It doesn't matter which shipper you use, the odds are very great there will be several hundred #'s of freight on top of the grille somewhere along the way.

Now if it goes by bus, you could get away with cardboard most of the time.:Do No:

Those FEDEX and UPS trucks are completely filled with pkgs, and they don't have the time to place the lightest pkgs on top, not to mention the buildings have several miles of conveyor belts. Belts get jammed, pkgs get crushed.

Or I could just hand deliver them... it woudl take less time. :pp I could line the box with brick pavers.... I have had several grills delivered in the same box, and they show up fine. I know UPS uses these things for target practice.... Guess I have just been lucky.

    Grill Pieces

    Jon,
You (for sale Buick GS Grill Jigsaw Puzzle):moonu: . Maybe Jon on next grill you put a $1,000 insurance on it and see what happens. Even if you are selling them for $300.00 = $700.00 GP. Maybe delivery agents would pay more attention to:Do No: . Let me know when you get a few cranked out I am still interested when you get back at it. I have heard of horor stories about simular packages (I guess at least it wasnt a NOS one if that is any consolation).

    Good luck in the future
