    Boy,
I sure am glad that I only buy/build/bring slow cars to the PSMCDR to have FUN, and I don't have to deal with all this crapola:Dou:

Uh Joel, I think the claim you make about Jim's car happened on a test and tune night at Stanton, the car didn't run the number at the event, so your claim would be incorrect, but I could be wrong too.

I only get to have what I consider FUN a couple times a year at these races, and I would HATE to see this race come to an end because of this bickering.

Bottom line..... We were taught right from wrong at an early age, we learned that if you touch the burner on a hot stove, you get burnt, and we should have been taught how to read in probably 1st or 2nd grade.
So.....If your reading the rules, but your doing something that the rules say you shouldn't be doing, shame on you.:spank:

Let your conscience be your guide:Smarty:

It was test and tune ,and the year he had to change his heads. Due to differences in the valve throats. AKA side by side comparo of a stock head.

    And liftergate with Peterson.

That was Brian Stefina - that found that one . Remember you all hated him before me!!

There is an awful lot of interest in this from the FAST guys all a sudden.
Is it recruiting season. Split the herd and take down the weak ones??

I think Benoit said something like pickin fly **** out of the pepper is one thing -but pickin the turds out of your GUMBO is another!!!
Might of been me - doesn't sound like it though.
    Rules is rules

Yup, I think you are incorrect. :error: Jim is the King of Certified Stock.

Jims car Certified and went 11.98 that night in test & tune, but that is not what I am counting. I am counting the 12.06 the following day at the event.

But if you still want to take that away from him because you don't like the legal, pre-aproved by Dan repairs to his heads, he is still the king because he came back the next year and certified with untouched bone stock heads, Napa single angle stock replacement valves (that no other certified has been asked to use) and ran 12.21, which is still quicker than any other certified car has ran at the event that it certified.(even with an internally collapsed, obstructed muffler that was discovered later)

So Jim IS the most and best and fastest certifier. :TU:

Hey, I'm just chiming in and agreeing with Brian that Jim is a good choice to oversee certification to make sure that it is all legit. :Comp:

Scott Tieman is a stand up guy in my book, but obviously he can't oversee certification of a car he built. :)

I'm not throwing stones at Jim, nor do I have a beef with Jim, but if I'M incorrect, why did the car go 11.xx with an incorrect valve job, and 12.20's with a "certified" valve job.:Do No:
Again this is not about Jim.
If we are discussing the certified program, the car's that certify MUST be held to a higher standard if they are to be considered the "benchmark" or "yardstick" that other like cars are measured against.

    SCATPACKTOM----
Liftergate...the act of using Schubeck(sp?) ceramic lifters, which are (a)lightweight, and (b) not stock valvetrain components.

Certified cars should also be checked for weight removal:Smarty:

 Give me one of thos sign's, I'll put it in my front yard!!!

Joel -I like Jim Alot. Staying quiet and smiling goes a long way. And he ain't afraid to crawl around a car. More news cast's have been made from Scott's Garage on the Spetzman telegraph during cert's than the WALL Street journal!
    I think the # was 1-800-mop-rnut
The head thing - if it was pre approved than scott and dan sure were suprised in the side by side comparo. Necked down valves -I'm not so sure .Due to the fact I STILL have the E-Mail from DAN telling me I COULD NOT RUN my brand new manley race flo's that I bought and put in.I had to put straight stems back in for Cert's.So I don't think he was just picking on JIM. I'm not going to take Anything away from Jim ,he's wooped my a$$ off the line so many times I can't count.

You think we're picking on certin people but we're NOT. Only instances that should of been RED Flagged And Stopped ,And this progression of you let him
-as Tom put it ,never would of happened.

For the folks that think I'm hopping up and down yelling -I'm not.
Have you ever been to Pure Stock party or the parking lot after a race
(and a few Beers) Loud -but very Fun -opinons are Shared after motorized Marguirita mixers, Gumbo ,kabobs, and Micro brews from other states.
This Crap didn't happin from one CAR, But I wish we could fix over night! :(

Tom -please put a comma or a word or something in your reply .I don't want to think your a pervert!

I hope no one sees this thread as bickering. I think it's simply a good discussion which helps people to understand each other's viewpoints.

    And on that note:
I never really thought of it this way before, but the PCMCDR is a lot like a friendly game of golf with your buddies. No big prize on the line (maybe a beer or two), and you're responsible for keeping the rules and counting your strokes yourself. If you want to kick the ball back into the fairway or count that lipped-out putt as good, that's between you and your conscience. If you can live with your own cheatin' self, so be it. While your friends may not be impressed with your integrity, if they're true friends, they'll accept you the way you are anyway.

Hi again. Some of you may remember that I used to be a regular voice on this site. I humbly and respectfully want to add just two thoughts to this thread:

    1. The only reason this thread exists is because of the singular pursuit by some of the controversial and illusive title in the quote (this is not intended as a reference to Jim). It may be what's wrong and what needs to be reconsidered in the context of an event whose format was never designed to find or define an overall winner.

    2. The most impressive thing that has come out of Pure Stock at Stanton occurred unceremoniously this year during the driver meeting before the event was regrettably cancelled. Dan & Bob offered drivers a partial refund... a jesture that was soundly dismissed by owners regardless of marque. That was a proud moment for everyone... no crown.

    Just my modest perspective.

    Yep.

No is a legitimate answer, needs to be remembered and used.

That's why I think just make what they have mean something.

Not trying to be smart Brian but at this point how do you repair the damage?

    beer.
    lots of beer.
    and some pretzels.
    and beer.
And sausage and peppers with sharp provolone cheese on a nice hard Italian roll.

Well, that would make me feel better.

I think Chuckie hit the nail on the head... kegger at the certification!!!!:pp

I have been sitting on the sidelines (okay, actually I have been on vacation in Vegas) but, leave it to Big Shooter to ask the question that still has no good answer.... Now that the genie has been shaken out of the bottle and the purity of Pure Stock is in question, how do we get it back???

I know Brian will say to enforce the rules that are already there. Okay that is a start. Extra tech on the "faster" Pure Stockers??? Manditory valve cover pull, boroscope down the spark plug hole, and a looky loo at the bottom end with that same boroscope??? Added time and pain to all envolved. P&G.. cam lift... cam duration.... cranking compression??? All are measurable things, but do we have the time for this???? The answer is looking at us in the eye, but no one wants to bring it forward. Post race inspection on the top dogs!!!!!

I remember that my jaw hit the floor when Terry P. pulled the heads and cam for the world to see after Julie set the world on fire. That take some stones, but if you are big enough to run with the big dogs, sometimes you have to mark your territiory!!! My $.02 cents as I certainly do not have anything that will even remotely be in the limelight, but it would either bring some credibility to the Big Dogs and the Pure Stocks or it would shut them down!

Chuck -I wondered if you were lurking???
We already do the food and beer- do we cancel the race and keep the PARTY??????????:beers2:

Good thing he didn't have an engine hoist with him at the time. He can pull the engine out of a Corvette pretty quick, now that he's had lots of practice. I'll bet Scott P. could get it out of there with just a 2x4 and a piece of chain though..... :bla:
