Only the elite get crank-up windows!! I have the only "el-stripo" post car with the rear window pop-outs. I dont need no stinkin window regulators!!! :bglasses: Jim
ok , the post car is supposed to be lighter than the hardtop ... but by how much ? i'm assuming when you say el-stripo we are talking bench seat , radio and heater delete ? :Brow:
Back then when I was young and nieve, I didnt realize that after I made my first pass and came up to the scale to weigh that I was supposed to leave all my tool boxes, spare tire, gas cans, girl friend, and extra car parts in the trunk, but as I got older, I got wiser.   Jim
Is your car a post Casey? And how much of that 3720 is you? Also, what, if any, options does it have? Curious as I have a 70 Cutlass S post stashed for a future project. Only has power steering and brakes (drums). And both power options are coming off. Already have the steering box lined up. :Brow:
I think that lead ballast filled wing on the back of Casey's car probably accounts for a chunk. :Brow:
Yes - my car is a post. It has carpet, AM/FM radio, rear spoiler, manual steering, manual disc brakes. It has the complete heater system in-tact. 4-core radiator, AND I use a FULL size battery. I'm not hiding any small cell job. I leave the spare out, and run with 1/2-FULL tank of fuel. Oh yea ....... and I'm a svelt, boyish 200 lbs. uzzled:
I think the power of the certified cars comes form a valve job, cylinders ability to not leak down, and cam degreeing. Non of it is space technology but it raises the power. Most of all makes the power band MUCH WIDER. Secondly, the cars thast are going fast would normally be considered over geared. Look at the gearing and the tires on 90% of the cars are less than a 27" tall tire. Just an observation. :TU: Jim
Im planning to build a certifiable L88 engine for my 69 Corvette for the Pure Stock race in September. Do you guys get your cars certified on Tuesday or Wednesday then take them home then bring them back to race Friday and Saturday. I like to sleep  in my own bed whenever possible instead of staying another day in a motel. Is that what the rest of you guys that live close do?
There was talk that after the car was certified, that it was to stay at Dans or Scotts place, that way, "What happens in Vegas,Stays in Vegas!!" :Brow: Jim
WOW! Casey thanks, :TU: Well that changes everything, I plan on certifying on Monday or Tuesday then go home and get some rest in my own bed and I will see you all on Friday. :3gears:
Clifford, I would reccomend leaving the Vette at the certification site while you go home and sleep in your own bed. Other wise, if you bring the car home, there will be alot of speculation as to whether you made changes to the motor, or maybe even dropped in a whole nuther moter while you were gone with it. Sure, we know you would never do that, but why give the naysayers that sort of ammo? Certified cars should stay on site untill they are raced. :Smarty:
After Dads certification on his GTX, I think we`ll leave it on site and pick it up friday morning.. Not to worry the spool, alumiumn driveshaft, etc,etc.. Will not be on the car.
Those are all very valid points. Maybe Dan can chime in on this if there has been a change in the "protocol".......
Sounds like there's a whole lot of certifying going on this year. Is there a limit on how many they can handle? or store for a few days? Inside ? (for those of us without enclosed trailers).
Certing I just spoke with Dan. He wants the cars to stay after they are cert'd. He will cert 8 cars on Tues/Wed. If needed he can add Monday and do 4 more. Mark
Mountain Home???? I thought my great grandparents were the only people who actually lived in Mountain Home, Ark.?????
