Us guys up north are dying up here with all the snow and cold. It's up to you southern boys (and girls) to keep our spirits up.

    I don't care if it's a kill from the 80's, let's hear some new stories here!!!:beer

North America has the most snow coverage since 1966. Bring on the Global cooling.. The sun has the least amount of sunspot activity since the little ice age which lasted 500 years. 1350 to 1850.. :TU:

No new stories here, too cold & too much salt on the ground. However here's a story from last summer that made me feel good..

My friend has a 69 Chevelle w/454, 5 speed TKO600, alum heads, Holley, headers, 3 inch ex, 390 12 bolt rear. No A/C. Similar combo to mine, here are my stats..

71 GSX clone, 462 BBB, 70 Stg 1 iron heads, 9.6-1 comp ratio, Ta 413 cam, 1 7/8 headers, edel intake, 3:23 rear, muncie m-20 at the time, 3 in exhaust. A/C all hooked up.

Anyway, the light turns red, we take offside by side at a light, we were neck & neck thru 3rd gear, I shift ino 4th at about the same time he does, he went from 3 to 2nd by accident, missed 4th & blew his belts off, swerved to the right, he was in lt lane, I was in rt lane, so he comes over towards my car, I swere to the right, avoiding contact & we both kept our composure, avoided any incidents, and backed off. We pulled over & bumped his belts back on & went to his house.

The reason this made me feel good is that his car is a mid to low 12 sec combo & pushes out somewhere around 550hp. I know I got more torque, he has more hp, but we were close. I can't wait for a rematch. Anybody want to give me alum heads? I need to take up a collection. Feel free to donate to my paypal:

nothing exciting but a couple months ago i was comming home from one of my friends house, happend to see my one buddy(former v8buick memeber) comming across the bridge and flew past me.
i caught up to him on the hiway, we lined up at around 40mph, i beeped 3 times and we both punched it! i shot up past his fender instantly and hit about 65 and was a car and and a half infront of him.. he knew his 67 coronet(318/auto) had no chance,we just did it inspite of fun

.like a said not really exciting, but it should help with the withdraws:laugh:

no worthy opponents yet. This might be good since all the bugs are not worked out yet.

Back in the 80's I was driving a badly faded seamist plain jane lark with a stock 350-2, 14" bias plys with deluxe wheel covers and single exhaust. It had over 100k on the clock but she ran like it was new. Some of the body panels were repainted as some point and the green didn't match the rest of the car. It had some weird rear gear as it would chirp second most of the time at around 35 MPH. My current car when it had the 350/350 and 2.73 rear didn't shift into second until 60 MPH.

Anyway, Nice sunny day, Spring 1988 and I'm on RT 1 in NJ somewhere near Rutgers U where I was attending school. I pass a new Volvo and notice his turbo emblem as I go by. As luck would have it, I line up next to him at a red light with him shortly thereafter. He's in the fast lane and I'm in the middle. Light turns green and I ease into the gas because it would smoke the right rear and I wasn't expecting a race. I look over at the guy and see him looking at me in his business suit. I hear his engine roaring and see his car jump. My right foot slams the accelerator to the floor instinctively. The Buick pulls away steadily one, two, four, five car lengths. As I'm pulling away, I'm watching the front end of his car jump up with each shift of his obviously manual trans in my side view mirror. I'm also watching his face, That dude was PISSED. His expensive new turbo charged Volvo was no match for a stock, faded 18 year old naturally aspirated, worn out granny car and he knew it. I'm sure his head would've exploded if he know I only paid $125.00 for that car. As for the race, I probably got up to 65 or so and the next light was red so that was it. Volvo man stayed behind me. The picture below is what he saw

Kill #2. A different sort of kill but a kill nonetheless. Driving the same car a few months before, I was rear ended at a toll plaza by a kid driving his mom's brand new '87 Ford Tempo. I took the pic below to document the damage and scanned it for this story. We felt a bump from behind and heard parts falling onto the pavement. The tempo was ugly. The plastic front end was smashed to bits and a bunch of it was on the ground. Coolant was leaking and he had to be towed. I remember he needed a bumper, grille, headlights and a hood. I drove the Buick away feeling bad for him.

So there you have it. Two vintage kill stories for the price of one with a picture bonus. :beer

All right I got one. It was like 94ish and it was my first build. 455 with TA 213, edelbrock and some headers and exhaust. No porting at this time.
My ride was a 73 LeSabre custom. Nothing special but rust free and straight. I put 73 riv buckets and console along with the posi rear. 323's.

Ok when you come off the jersey outerbridge and get off the first exit, there is a stop sign on the service road. This was a good place to leave some rubber.

So I noticed there was another set of rubber being layed down and sooner or later I figered i'd run into him.

So P.S. 7 months later I finally catch the guy. 87 Black SS monte.

Real nice looking car. Blacked out windows and Blue underbody lights.

So I knew we were gonna dance.

Ok now here we go, gotta let off cause I get no traction. Very hard to feather it being all pumped up and all.

So we're going 1st gear, 2nd gear side by side, NOW HERE'S WHERE IT GETS GOOD. My buddy builds the tranny's.(Very well I might add) As we hit like 95 mph my 4900 lb car hits 3rd gear and gives me enough of a forward lurch to get about 2 lenghts on the guy.

Now when we stopped at the first light he says to me: How the hell did you get that tank going like that. All I said was BBB power.

Then ne began to tell me it was the first time he got whooped on the street.

Makes me feel good every time I think about it.

All this old school stuff is churning up kill memories. I remember a good one...

It was 1988. A drunk driver hit my 80 Olds Delta 88 coupe & totalled it. In the meantime I needed a car, so my best friend's dad had a 79 Ford Sport Granada 2 door 302 4 speed manual. The transmission was wierd. Reverse was inline with 1st gear, you had to pull up on the stick & put it into 1st, to get reverse. It had Ford's version of rally 2 style mags. He sold it to me for $200.00. I hadn't got the insurance check for the Olds yet & had no money. I was 16 years old.

Anyway, this Granada was bad a$$! Ugly, but bad a$$ nontheless. Talk about sleeper! I was delivering pizzas at night with the Granada & I pulled up to a light. Next to me pulls up a red 78 or 79 Camaro Z-28. I look over in boredom & they are laughing at me and my car. The light turns green & I hit it & blew that thing away! People stopped laughing.

That same night, I was coming down to a light, & I see a friend of mine at the red light in his 80 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX. I am slowing down & coming up on his right side.. I downshift into 1st, but I must have lifted the stick, cause it went into reverse & locked the rear wheels up making the loudest screeching noise from the tires, getting everyone's attention! I immediately throw the shifter back & then forward again at the same time the light turns green & smoke em all the way thru 1st & churp second blowing him away too. What a night.

I eventually got the insurance check, gave the Granada away, bought a beautiful 80 Trans Am with a 301 non turbo & never won a race in that car ever. I made a mistake & fell for pretty, not fast.

My brother in law is a ford truck turbo Diesel guy. i am 37 and have been best friends with him since 8th grade. he came from a ford family and i from a GM family. we have always given each other lots of crap. well one day he and my sister(his wife) came to me and said that his nephew has a big ford truck turbo diesel that is chipped and big down pipe and that it is way faster than my turbo BBB camaro. I said, "really, then have him come to the friday night street legal drags at madras and we will see". my sister says are you sure it could be embarrassing for you. I said i will take my chances sis. the thing you should know is that the last time they rode in my car it had no turbos and only ran 9.05 in 1/8 and i rode in the truck and fed them the nice guy "yeh, this thing is pretty fast" courtesy complement. needless to say it was ugly his truck only ran a 9.6 and i ran in the 7's. i tell you what though those things blow a lot of black smoke when they are chipped.

fun stories :gp: I just thought of another one about the same old lark from post #8.

I call this, "Killed an Irishman"

Summer 1987 LBI NJ I'm working at a grocery store and there was a kid working with me that was from Ireland. He was the type that told you everything he had was better, bigger and faster than what you had. A buddy and I were talking about my Buick and he jumps into the conversation uninvited. He starts saying how fast the cars are in Ireland and how slow our American cars are. Americans are pussies and our cars are slow. If he had his car over here he'd blow mine away in a race, yadda yadda yadda. This went on for a few days. Finally one day I had enough. It was lunch break and I asked him if he wanted to drive my slow car. He declined multiple times but I managed to talk him into it. He got behind the wheel, I sat in the middle and my buddy was on the right. The Irishman takes it out on the road and is barely touching the gas. I'm egging him on, "go ahead man, punch it." No dice. I'm getting tired of this fast so I see an opportunity and I step on his right foot with my left foot and floor it for a few seconds. His eye's opened up so damn big I thought they'd pop right out of his head. Then I kept asking him, "So, what do you think?" He's quiet and I look down and see his leg shaking like a leaf. With that, we let him have it. "American pussy car scared the crap outta you etc." Of course every time we saw him after that I'd ask him if he wanted to drive my car. The old Buick quieted his loud mouth down. I bet he remembers that car to this day.

This is a very old "kill story". My cousin & I were just 16 & driving my dad's new 67 Buick Special 4dr sedan with a 300 2bll auto. . A guy a bit older than us had a 67 Malibu 2dr ht, 283 4bll that he thought was pretty hot. His buddy & him kept bugging us about how much faster his car was than the old man's Buick. I didn't think so. He said "prove it". Well from a dead stop by the time I hit 60 he was able to pull in behind me. That shut him up & I won my first race! Funny thing tho, years latter when I reminded him about that race he said he didn't remember it & he had never lost a race with that car, oh well!

Keep the stories coming!!! I've seen some KILLER 4x4 long bed, 4 door lifted Diesels running 12s. No BS.

A few months ago I was coming home from work (I bartend, it was about 3 AM no one on the road) and there's this car riding my ass for the past mile or so. I'm in my Hemi Ram (go ahead and laugh but it's a quick truck). I was going 65 in a 55 already, the road comes to 2 lanes so I scoot over and he floors it expecting an easy pass. I thought it was a tuner so I expected an easy pass also. I wait until I see his hood in my side window. Then I see it's an early 2000s Trans AM. I said "oh sh!t" I punch it anyway, I drop down from 5th to 2nd once it grabbed in second that trans am didnt gain an inch on me and I slowly pulled away about 3 or 4 car lengths at 90 mph or so. He backed off about 1/4 mile the rest of the way down that road. I bet he wasn't expecting that at all.

It's not a turbo BBB but it runs 14.59 @ 90 and it's not far from stock with 3.55 gears and weighing 4800lbs. It's a fun truck

Oh yeah and I beat an 80s trans am at the track last time and barely got beat by a 77ish trans am 6.6 liter. I can also keep up with this 72ish nova that's always at the track. I've beat Vtechs and Tundras and Cummins and 5.0s all kinds of crap. I occasionally get the "What the hell do you have in there" even when my truck was stock.
