My brother has a 2002 hemi truck. And it is pretty quick. I keep trying to get him to take it up to the track and run sum of those diesel trucks. he would probably loose but i bet it would be close

I have 2 buds with the Diesels. One has the ford power joke!
And the other has the Dodge Cummings. Both did the regular mods but the dodge is like driving a hot rod!! 7700lbs of muscle!! 4 in exhaust!

The ford guy won't race the dodge guy.:Do No:

Ive had a few N2o GMC turbo Diesels give my turbo camaro a good run for its money. i think one was propane and the other was N2o.

Not sure about GM's. How did they run?

If i remember correctly one of them ran a 8.05 1/8 and the other was 8.50. I think the slower one was the propane injected. they both ran hard. but remember our track is at almost 4000ft

Don't really grasp the 1/8th mile thing. I guess it hasn't made it's way to the east coast!! Thank god.

I couldn't imagine running only half track.

But those numbers are nothing to be ashamed of!!

I haven't been to empressed with the hemi trucks. I've had fun with a couple of them in my el camino shop truck, and had to wonder what was the fuss about. El Co is an 87 with 350. Oh and by the way to my snow buried Buick brotheren, it was 80 today in sunny sothern Cali. :bla:

its because dodge hasnt realized no no mattrer what size you put in a 5000lbs curb weight truck it's still going to be slow!
i have buddys that have the newer 96- and up rams, 1500s
no matter if it has a 318, 390 or the new 5.7 they all get about 11 to 12 mpg lmao

All this snow in NY has me thinking... what would a 455 powered snowmobile do? LOL

    Anyways... old kill stories...
Back in high school there was this kid who had the parents who bought him everything... we used to hang out until his annoying bragging and whining got to me... so his parents buy him a very new mitsubishi eclipse with a V6 and a 5 speed, a few bolt on's, body kit, rims... typical ricer... so for the next month all I hear about is how fast it is and how my old buick or my caprice will never beat it, etc.. etc.. etc.. Anyways one night, I'm in the caprice, he's behind me, and we're driving to a bar where we didn't really need ID's lol... I catch up to him in traffic and we catch a red light... peerrrrrrfect... Light turns green, I slam the gas to the floor and start pulling on him fast... I got to the bar first  and never heard anything about how fast his car was again, especially after I told him my buick is faster yet.

And one more... you guys are talking about trucks, so here's one about my S10... it was a '93 S10 2.8L 5 speed 2wd I had been using for a beater and slowly fixing up while driving it. It was bright red, loud, and very, very quick for what it was... it had headers and a dual glasspack exhaust (a little loud:laugh:), an aftermarket TBI setup, performance chip, centerforce clutch, 4.10's, and a posi diff in the stock housing, traction bars (it needed them)... among other things. I used to pull on deisels, big trucks with flowmasters, etc, all the time like nothing to it... one day I'm driving home from work, and a very quick honda pulls up to the first of three lights in a row on a two lane road, the kids in the honda are looking at me and smiling while the truck is idling heavy at the light... the light turns green, I take off spinning, grab second, keep spinning and hopping, chirp 3rd, and start pulling away slowly, the honda is at my back bumper, and starts to catch up in 4th, then the next light goes yellow and we stop... do it again, and at the 3rd light the kid yells over "what the hell is in that thing? I know it isn't a small block!" I smiled and said: "Just a V6 and a 5 speed" and burn him yet again, wave, and continue home feeling pretty good about my little beater truck .

Not to many about my buick as I never drove it much... but it did embarass a few suits in some "nicer" sport sedans... a caddy CTS was my favorite... with the crystal blue paint and white vinyl top it's pretty granny-looking... that guy in the CTS never saw it coming... from a 40-ish mph roll those highways gears really helped

14.59 isn't slow for a 4800 lbs truck that isn't far from stock. And I get 16 mpg no matter how hard I romp it. I got 13.5 mpg on a 200 mile trip with a 4000lb trailer and a 5,000 lb truck on it. This is my daily driver.

On hemitruckclub.com there are 50 trucks running sub 15 second 1/4s. That's not bad for a TRUCK. There are 10 trucks that run under 13s. Like I said before, It's not a turbo buick or a 455 skylark but it's not bad for a truck that is daily driven.

I agree, mid 14's is really good for a stock 5000lb truck. I know guys with pumped up 350/400 chevs that are happy to be in th 14's. Heck my wifes 307 chevelle runs almost 18 sec in the 1/4. now that's slow!

18's isn't that slow... I bet my '85 2.8L 4x4 auto S10 blazer is much slower lol... the damn thing has trouble staying at 55 mph going up hills... that's my daily driver... and people wonder why I don't care about street manners for my buick and all I want is power from it... LOL...

oh well, soon enough that very clean southern blazer won't be that slow... I have a 4.3L bottom end... half the TBI stuff to run it... but I also have a homeless buick 350/TH350 :Brow:

Just jumped back on this thread after not opening it for a while, J- my Delta 88 was a Black coupe, w/black half vinyl top, brougham/landau whatever. It had a 307 or 305 that was a dog. But what was cool about it was it had a maroon velour interior and it was so wide that you could lay out completely in the back. That was really convenient when dating in high school. :TU:

Many good memories in that car...ahhh, now the real "kill" stories are coming back to me. :Brow:

Ha ha ha. I remember those days myself. I had a 70 Coupe De Ville in H.S. and the back seat area was like a rolling hotel room!!

you guys are lucky, all i had was my camaro. there is no room in that car, and the seats don't even fold back. but when you are 16 it is amazing what you can do when you are on a mission.

18's was real fast in my high school days. Could you even imagine trying to pedal that tri-cycle down the quarter or eighth mile with a pedal missing. LOL:bglasses:

I know what you mean, before I had the caprice I had an '85 ford ranger single cab... sure there was a bed, but that was always dirty and nasty... it did have a bench seat though LOL... in spring of senior year gas prices got a little ridiculous and a parked the caprice and bought my '93 S10 pickup single cab... that was a stick shift so that was even more of a challenge. lol... those were the days... I also had my buick in high school, but most of it's time then was spent parked in the garage with a cover over it. The few times I did take it out for dates I had to blast the heat because all I heard about was how cold the vinyl bench seats were.

Before we get back to the kill stories, I'm starting to think about the high school stories and big cars...I have a son and a 66 Charger! If you're aware of the unique fold down rear seats and large rear room that is special to the the first gen Chargers you can get an idea of what I'm thinking...and worrying about!! When he asks to take it out for the night I'll have two worries, first, he's going to want to race it, since it is built to go fast, and second....well, you know.

Boy, I wish I had that back in the day.

Yeah, after the Delta 88 got wrecked by a drunk driver who t-boned it, I had the Granada for a little while & then bought the Trans Am. The back seats were useless, but you can get creative in the front. Later on, I was driving my mom's Honda CRX ( I can't remember why, I had the TA at the time) & took my girlfriend out in it. I was 17 or 18 at the time. The next day, my mom asked, "What were you doing in my car last night?, I said "Why mom, what's the matter?" She replied..." How did you get footprints on the windshield on the passenger side?" I laughed & ran out the door, jumped in my car & drove to school. AAAH the good old days. I would love to be young again.
