I’ve been using Cover All for years on stuff, great product! Still have the original gallon, lasts forever.
Raining for the past couple days so no shock painting! But, I found a couple little things to knock out....one is the core support bushing hardware. Someone put hardware store bolts and washers in there- no good!! And while I have the battery out, im going to clean up the area a bit. Look how nice e the inner fender and support are. While I was there, I noticed the air cleaner needed a good detailing. So that came apart. Gave it a bath in Westleys tire cleaner and polished the beautiful original paint. It's ashame someone painted the lid. Kills me, but the lid will need to get refinished in gloss black lacquer. I'll be dropping it off at my favorite body shop Monday morning. I sanded off the non original satin finish rattle can job because I just couldn't stand it anymore. Plus it gives the body shop a little headstart. The GS-455 decalooks suspiciously "too nice" although it is embossed. I think its either an NOS recall or one of the better repro's from the NE Chapter. I need a nice FB-59 breather for it now. I have a "square mesh" AC A212CW air filter on order. Have to order the right 6485517 keep your gm car all gm decal too!
There was one small casualty. I broke this small vacuum tee. So pissed at myself.. Does anyone have a spare?
It's the tee that's underneath the air cleaner that connects the auto thermatic door to the temp sensor
Plastic... Im bored to tears so I went back in the garage and ripped all the hurst shifter linkage apart. Everything is spray painted silver. Here's what it looks like And after taking all the clips and trunions off
I'll look at my air cleaner tomorrow. If the tee is still there and original, you can have it. I can replace it with something else and it won't keep me up at night.
I blew apart the shifter mech and cleaned it. Felt very stiff and gritty. I cleaned it all up in solvent and it's ready to go back together tonight. It's in very good shape
Yeah, late night in the garage! Getting the paint off everything is a real pain, but the linkage is almost finished
All the linkage has been stripped and cleaned. Sadly, no trace of any gold plating on anything other than the column linkage. The only original plating left All the washers and clips are wrong. I only had one correct linkage washer in stock. It's part number 9419234. You can see the difference in this pic. The left washer is the factory phosphate coated piece. The bad news is im not getting this back together today. I placed an order with Todd, my crack dealer, for the correct clips and washers.
Jason, you might as well just have a joint bank account with Todd and let him go in and take $$ as he pleases. Kind of like a wife but with testicles and a cool car hobby addiction to match yours.
