Today I reinstalled the interior. I made sure every screw was correct. Reinstalled the laundered seat belts. Special thanks goes out to Tim garland fir supplying me with my missing two belts. Not only did he have a pair of black general safety belts but they were date code correct to boot! The old package tray was reinstalled temporarily. Legendary said it will take 8 weeks to custom make the new package tray with speaker holes only on the passenger side. So I'm not leaving it apart. So the defroster was installed in the center for now. Good news is it works! Rear window looks like the factory installed it from the inside. I'm glad I painted that reveal. Thanks to Juan Rodriguez for the correct defroster grill. Once the new tray gets here, the defroster goes in the right spot. Took her out for a good cruise. The new high efficiency radiator core is the bomb. Gauge wouldn't budge past 180. Gassed up and put away. Next up I might tackle the grill. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I have a nicer one I've been saving...
Another day, another project. The old girl is getting a face-lift and a clean up for Christmas. Going to polish up the stainless, swap in a better grill and make sure we have the correct screws and connectors. We have the incorrect trim ring screws. These have to go. I have a set of nice original rusty ones going in. And shes apart again... A comparison of grills. The one going in had a small crack in the usual spot. I did a small repair and just misted a coat of dull aluminum. It's almost undetectable. I was saving this grill for a special car.
Dave convinced me to swap those out when I put my new harness in last year. Jesus, we have serious OCD issues.
Ok, it's 90% put back together. Wow, what a difference. The new grill really looks great. I tweaked the front bumper a bit to get a better reveal. Too tired to take pics so you guy will have to wait till tomorrow.
Lol.....yes we do! It's funny how those white plugs annoyed me. You know, sometimes I question myself about why I save some of this crap. Like chopped up harnesses, broken tail lights, and various odds and ends. But damn this stuff really comes in handy.
The finished product. I spent a late night in the garage finishing it up. One of the nicest original paint gray plastic grills I've ever seen.
It's the worst paint on the car, unfortunately. It wouldn't hurt it to go ahead and throw a coat of wax on it to make it black again...instead of chalky. I was just afraid to touch it altogether.
