Yea that's right. Its an addiction. Never can have enough paint. Ever run out during a project? Nothing wrong with spray paint for certain jobs. Although its not like 2K. Over the years I've tried to use 2K paints on smaller parts. Eastwood actually has it in aerosol With a bustable bladder in the bottom of can. Which contains the hardner I guess. But its only still sprayble for a few days once activated. First time recently I used it on the engine. 650*.
In my defense, the eggshells were already painted poorly. And the center section would of not matched.
So they painted that after the body. I'll have to look at the bodies I have here. You were right to paint it. Between the eggshells & package tray it wouldn't have looked right plus while the glass was out. You'd have been kicking yourself if you hadn't.
Rear glass area treated and new clips installed Butyl tape installed- We put a bead of urethane on the channel after laying a cost of glass primer. And laid in- And the moldings just snapped right on-
Looks great! That is a job I don't think I have the skill or the stomach for, primarily the removal part (much of my background is in demolition). Just imagine if this was a popular project say 20, 30, 40 years ago? It could have saved a whole lot of window channels. You often mention "rust neutralizer" what product are you using?
I used loctite rust neutralizer. Turns the rust black and arrests it. I also uses por-15 filler and seam sealer. The trick with this car being original paint is doing the bare minimum. More conservation than actual restoration It should hsve the interior back in by Sunday. When do you want to pick it up?
Very tempting!!! Keep working. I may have another "yellow" car dangling over my head right now... '70,w-30,4spd, bench, Sebring/black. I will have no choice if it stays below wholesale. TBD!
Wasn't the plan. But I have some personal issues thst have come up and I may have to. Sucks, took me 35 years to get another one and I may not be able to keep it.
Hey Jason, Looks great! I’m getting ready to install glass as well. Got a couple questions for you. did you use that foam strip they say to use as a potting dam for the urethane? And do you put the urethane on the glass or on the window channel. Never done this before. Figured I do the original back glass first then the aftermarket windshield. Thanks Nick
I didn't take any pics of the new radiator install. Came out really good. That eastwood radiator paint lays out so good. I used gloss black. Yeah, I know, the cooler plugs are wrong.
For the cost of a good glass guy, it really wasn't worth it to do it myself. My buddy Eric is the man when it comes to A body glass. Knows all the tips and tricks and has all the cool tools. The first thing he did was put a special glass primer on the channel. Then he laid the 5/16" buytl tape on the glass. He hig the seam along the side so it wouldn't be visible. Next he ran a bead of urethane on the channel. He suction cupped two handles to the glass and we set it down on the urethane. He put the two rubber blocks in at the base so the glass doesn't slide down. And that was it ...cost me $100.
Sounds about right. Prices on the good cores have jumped considerably over the last 6 to 8 months. I had one done in February and it was $460. The most recent was right around what you paid.
