Had to do what we had to do to get them balanced.

Nonetheless, I'm happy this chapter is closed.

    Sure does!

One of the "made in Mexico" AC Delco shocks I replaced the air shocks with way back when was junk. I'm sure that didn't help.

This thread is gonna be very useful when I start trying things to eliminate my car's BAD wheel hop problem.
    "How bad is it?"
It broke an upper rear shock mount.

Did you ever put the shims under the transmission?

    Yikes!!

Yes - lots of good info in this thread. Maybe I'll make it a sticky.

The driveshaft loop I'm using now (before I install the Caruso piece) is bolted between the transmission and the mount & is 1/4 inch steel.

    So, no but kinda.

Did that make any difference? I've been meaning to order some of those shims off the guy on Ebay.

Tough to tell, only because that loop was on there with the other shocks.

However, I can't see how having any 1/4 inch shim there would be detrimental.

It's funny how so many small bits from these cars got discarded over the years.

    Update:

As of August 29th of last year, I thought I'd remedied my wheelhop issue. It looked that way, anyway.

Absolutely nothing has been done to the suspension since installing the Lakewood shocks. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Yet, here we are again: hopping like the Easter Bunny when I hammer it.

Explain to me how it can be fine when I put it away and not fine now.

IDK, but I run new Gabriel Air shocks, poly bushings everywhere, F-41, stock original rear & frt springs, cuz I like stock or lower ride height. Air shocks never over 30 lbs., never any wheel hop. Street, track, drag radials or street tires. So again, IDK.
I used to experience wheel hop with leaf spring suspension & needed traction bars, but not with coils.
Maybe too heavy coil spring rate?

I guess I've beat this dead horse enough.

I'll have to get some no hop bars and call it a day. I didn't want to but I'm left with really no other options at this point.

Set the pinion angle as it sits now and that should correct the issue now and into the future.

Besides, my car never really left well at the track with the no hop bars. The body always looked like it was raising up when it left, instead of squatting. The 60’ decreased as well when I went to the adjustable uppers.

It looks like the body is rising, but what is happening is the rear is being pushed down.

Brett, if you do go with the No Hops, get the TA Performance set. They fit both my original 8.2 and then my 8.5 rear. The Edelbrock ones I bought, I could not make them work, they would not fit.

I know Im probably dating myself but I run a set of Southside machine bars and never had any problem with wheel hop.Pretty sure they change the pinion angle

Total noob question but did you try different tires? Could there be a bad reaction between those and the suspension?
