I just recieved the OK this morning for a F.A.S.T. / Factory Stock race in conjunction with the Musclecar Reunion and Nostalgia drags to be held here in Kansas City. The dates for the event are Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7. This is going to be a regional meet and the show is shaping up to be like 'York of the Midwest'. Besides our brand of racing, there is going to be plenty of Nostalgia drag racing. Big Daddy is set to run Swamp Rat VIII, 3 of the Sox and Martin cars are slated to show as well as Bud Martin and Ronnie's Widow, Diane. Also, just added Arnie 'The Farmer' is slated to show with a couple of his cars. The racing is going to be test and tune all day Saturday with 2 qualifing runs on Saturday night under the lights. Sunday we will be matched up and racing. This should be fun. They would like to have at leat 10 people committed by Sept 1 (I should already have that number). $65 to race all weekend. (Can you tell I am geeked about this!):TU: :3gears:
If it's anything like York/Beaver Springs, it will be a great event with or without Fast/FS, that just makes it better. Run what you brung heads up, 2/3 match races is cool, too, for the slightly "tainted" cars   Unfortunately, it's a direct conflict with the Olds powered Nationals at Indy. o No: :bglasses:
Sounds like a good time and best of all, I dont have to pay $40.00 for tolls to drive thru Chicago!!!!! Jim
It'll come down to whether i take the car or not. I'd take it to K.C. for the heads up match racing, but not to Indy (or Norwalk, or Byron) since it's bracket racing with ladders. Don't do that anymore. No brainer in your case, Rusty. :bglasses: With FAST/FS at K.C. now, are there going to be all match races or the 8 car ladders? If the latter (no pun intended), my car stays home.
Pro Tree and match races. Right now, Hodges will have the only F.A.S.T. car unless the Rajin' Cajin brings 'Plastic Fantastic'. I am going to try to spread the word to some local car clubs an get some roots spreading. I know of a couple of guys in the local Olds club that I might be able to bring out. I will work on the Neb and IA group to see if some Rockets can't light up. Peg Leg, I know that you mentioned that it sounded interesting. See if you can't get some of the Studie boys to make their way!! The more the merrier!:bglasses:
The rules are on www.fastraces.org I hope you can make it. If you have any questions PM me, I will be more than willing to give you a call!:3gears:
LOoks like my only problem is the rear wheels and all 4 tires must be the same size, ......................
For those of you who have not been able to make the drive to Michigan or points farther to the east, this is a great opportunity to have fun with your cars at a nice track. KCIR usually has pretty good air in October. Anyone interested in entering a FAST car can PM me for info or, if you're already on the phone with Rusty:laugh: , ask him for my phone #. This will be fun.
Borrow a set and bring that sucker out, we may have more FAST cars than you think. It's about time we had some fun "out west".
Going to let cars with day one mods run in this? Headers, aftermarket wheels, intake, carb, little head bobbing dog in the back window?
Dag-nab-it! That event is out of my Ram's towing range. If it's within a couple of hours, we're there, dude. Not until I get a new tow vehicle will I be able to attempt a 12-15 hour tow. I know Rusty has been working on putting this together for quite some time. :beer
I can't believe it,a PS race only 3 hours from my house.I'm planning on Stanton and KC but seeing as ive not even started putting my car back together yet, i may miss Stanton.Rusty i talked to Kenny and we are both planning on it,thats if my car is done. This ones close enough i can bring the family, pencil me in.Now how about are friends from up north, any takers?
Hey, I've got it!!! :Brow: Frank, Fly to Omaha, help OEM get his ride together, and he lets you run down the strip a few times.......:idea2: I will have a group of fliers in my hand in short order. I can send some out to outlying areas to try and get some more cars lined up. I realize that it is the weekend before Virginia. I wish it was a different time, but as for the track and the weather... I would consider this to be the perfect time of the season. :bglasses:
Rusty, Thanks for getting a race west of the Mississippi KC is superclose (350 miles!!) compared to the other venues and the Sat/Sun format works better for my work schedule. I'll pass the word here in OKC. I have a friend with a 71 442 who needs convinced to race it and a friend of his with 68 and 69 H/O's. The 68 is not FS or FAST legal though. I wish my bad paint, aftermarket a/c delete, 455 swapped '72 Cutlass S could run Matt
