Welp, we had a good time today! Cindy went out and showed everyone in the stands what the rear bumper looks like ........................since the car was sideways it was easy. She threw the gas pedal down anyway after I told her several times not too. Then she only ran a 15 @95 mph WOW where was the mankiller at.......she forgot how to pedal or something!!! Oh well the next 2 runs were much better as she got to runn one 100.22 pass and a 101 something pass. only runing a 14.10 was humbling but her car looks much better on the ET Streets...... ALl the FAST guys are great to hang with..to bad you all didnt get to come down!

    Mike,
Have you given any thought to building a F.A.S.T. Buick?

Greg, I tried to get Mike to bolt on a set of stock tires to run me in FAST this weekend. Keep after him, he knows how to kick a$$ with a Buick.

A little race update, the weather here is super spongy, you could almost wring the water out of thin / thick air.
Spetzman set a new personal best 60 foot, a 1.81 I think. We had probably had 12 cars total, half the field is out now, 2-3 could not stay for finals, Rusty Small is broke, A Nebraska maxi car lost a tire, and the Cuda is 10mph down with possible bent valves.

My green car went 30's and 40's. Nelson went 50's? Spetz and Clary went 20's. Gotta go now, see you guys later.

It was good to see,old friends and make some new ones, did'nt get near enough track time to wittle down my times in the maxi,i only got 3 runs, with a best of 12.86 @ 106 mph with a few more runs i think 2 or 3 more 10th's could have come off,see everyone in martin next year, now my wife wants to get a car and run PS.

Sunday finals were rained out. We got as far as the staging lanes, then the sky opened up.

Rusty or I, will post the abbreviated results sometime Mon. or Tues.

To anybody who wanted to come, but could not make it; This event was a nice cross between the old Bristol Bash, and the Nostalgia Super Stock event in York / Beaver Springs. Night time racing went on, both Fri. night (open track), and Sat. night, for the qualifying rounds. The track hooked well, and ALL racers were treated very good. The organizers of the event are looking to do it again next year, so any of you "locals" from way out west, keep your eyes open for next year.

A special thanks to Mike & Cindy Garrison for braving the weather, and bringing that beautiful stage one Buick out to race with us today. I used to think buick people were just plain weird............... until I met Mike & Cindy, it probably helped that their car was not black.:Brow:

PS, you better be glad we didn't go after the other heads for the Cuda, Sat. night. :moonu:

Really?? Arent you lucky I wasnt behind the wheel....:Do No: We might have seen that car in the 13s and over 105 like it really runs :moonu:

And a better than a half second reaction time wouldnt have hurt either:3gears:

Mike, we talked about swapping heads on the car for all of 5 minutes. Joel was sleeping through every other sentence, and I was sick of thrashing on that thing from the weekend before. After hearing the "Mankiller" story, are you really sure you could have done better?

well probably not but since she never reads this board ever................well hell ya I could have done better...

Good times were had by the OKC crew. I know you guys think I am crazy for bringing the whole family including the 4 year old and 10 month old. We had a lot of fun and my wife enjoyed talking to Cindy. I wish I had more time to BS with all of you who showed up. I didn't get to see all the cars run b/c we got there mid afternoon on Sat., but Steve your car flat out kicks butt. Rusty I hope you get the top end of the motor fixed w/out too much trouble.
I think my wife will be hooked once I get my Cutlass going with the 455 transplant. Then we'll have to make plans for our own PS canidate.
Hope this race becomes an annual affair. Hope to see you next year. And we'll see the GS in a couple of weeks in Noble, OK.

Here is how everything shook out:

    #1 Rob Clary- 69 Yenko Camaro- 12.235 @115.53
    #2 Jim Spetzmen- '69 Super Bee 440-6-- 12.26 @ 111.73
    #3 Wayne Nelson- '68 428 CJ Mustang--12.693 @ 108.04
    #4 Kirk Bratka--63 Belvediere Max Wedge--12.868 @ 106.05
    #5 Cindy Garrison-- 70 Buick GS Stg 1--14.109 @ 101.07
    #6 Joel Nystrom-- Steve's 70 440-6 Cuda--14.486@ 95.93
    #7 Kenny Schram-- '63 Fury max wedge--14.511 @102.82
    #8 Rusty Small-- '69 Hurst/ Olds-- 14.8 --Broke

We grabbed a guy out of the car show and he was unable to stick around for qualifying--Jim Chapman with a beautiful '64 Fury Max wedge-- He ran a 13.26 for a single run. I think we may have hooked another one!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Hodges!:bla: Just a lowly 11.31 at 126!!!!!:Dou: Way to go buddy, I hope that Virginia is a little better air than what we had this weekend!!!

As for the event, the only thing I could have ask for is more passes (selfish). The track was sticking hard and Jim managed a 1.82 60'.

Somewhere around 450 cars racing, stands filled to capacity and standing room only along the fence. Too hot on Saturday then rained out on Sunday. Did I mention that this is racing and all will be good!:TU:
