As far as I am concerned, I was right to lock this thread when I did (page6). All you guys are doing is prolonging an argument that will never end. You aren't going to change anyone's mind about this, and they aren't going to change yours. All that will happen is that members will become more and more frustrated that they can't win. It's a fool's errand. Jim Weise has said on a number of occasions that he did not start V8 to divide us and make enemies. He would shut this board down before he would allow that to happen. Guns are a hot topic issue with strong feelings on both sides. This thread will get more and more contentious the longer it is allowed to go on. We have already seen the tendency to go political. Too much of that has been allowed already IMHO. When the other moderators come to the same conclusion I did, one of them can lock this thread. I'm not going to be the bad guy.

You keep throwing strawman responses and ignoring the fact that we have the absolute right to freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to self defense and to be secure in homes and person. Shall not be infringed is unambiguous.

Yes, a rational man could justify keeping them to defend his home and family. But once he throws in the"invading army" idea you know he is not being rational and is grasping at straws.

The strawman response is "our guns deter the russians." I am not denying any of the rights you list, which are based on rational arguments. "Stoppin the Ruskies" is not.

Okay, lol. I am going to get dragged down a rabbit hole where there are 2 pages of replies regarding extra terristrials and zoombies.

If it gets to the point of a foreign enemy invading American soil, you can bet it really won't matter. That will be the end chapter.

I simply want to be like the guy in Indiana who can protect myself, my family, and the defenseless if need be.

I don't think its my deodorant, but many times when I lean into a convo here, it seems as though the "lock", or the threat of one, soon looms large.

Brian certain topics get that response, unfortunately.
Generally happens when simple legitimate questions are asked. Easier to get the threads deleted or locked than to answer a simple question. I'm still waiting on a few simple things I asked. I guess I'm getting used to it though.
Debates in school were good. You did your research prior to talking.

The Canadian city I live in has seen a 27% increase in gun crimes over the past 5 years. Homicides here will likely set a (dubious) record for sheer numbers in 2022. Armed carjacking are also on the rise here. Seems those dastardly criminals didn't receive those memos advising them to surrender their firearms. At least us law abiding citizens without any right to carry one did. So yeah, gun control works up here.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

You love to pontificate about Australia and New Zealand, both being island countries with no shared land borders to any other country. The Canada/US border has so many sparsely populated regions without human patrols it's almost laughable. In addition, smuggling remains a major route for illegal weapons of all sorts to enter Canada from The USA. Stopping that would all but destroy trade between our countries as EVERY vehicle would need to be completely searched at the border prior to proceeding. That's just not going to happen under today's rules. Canada's Border Protection Service acknowledges there's a smuggling issue, but they have to rely on good old intel, along with their interview techniques.

I've actually crossed the land border hundreds of time through the years, and dealt with border agents on both sides. They're quite adept at their jobs, but none have X-Ray vision or telekinetic powers to read minds. Therefore, illegal goods still somehow make it through. It's an unfortunate reality of our times.

    I think we're good here.
