Cool... I am looking to see the drop based on how much you cut...i am wanting to do the same thing soon. got any pics of the new stance? Pointers for taking out the springs and cutting? I have never tried it before. the pic in my sig is what i want it to look like.
There we go Tyler! I was wondering when we were gonna see your name on the windows. Whats with the cutouts on the lexan though, I've got a circle track background so I don't know the little drag racing details like that... By the way- if you ask me, that thing is begging for some vinyl X stripes. But I am a little biased on the issue.
The cutouts are for the door opener lol. I do agree that it needs the x stripes! My buddie is going to paint the rest of the car flat black, just like the front end this winter. Maybe some carbon fiber looking stripes are in order or maybe silver.:idea2:
I still need to get the pictures! I promise I am not ignoring you. I just put the car in the trailer to head up to noble for the Buick VS Ford. So I will get pictures at the track for you. I just cut one coil off of the front, and it lowered it about 1" or so. It made it look really good IMO. As far as getting the spring out, you need to take the lower control arm off of the brake spindle. Remove the shocks. It is not that tough to do, you just need to be very careful so that the spring doesn't shoot out. A lot of people wrap a chain around it to hold it to the control arm. You should also put a floor jack underneath the control arm, so that you can slowly relieve the tension once you get the shock out, to get the spring out without it shooting out!
If it were my car, which it obviously isn't, I would put some gloss black vinyl stripes on it to give it a ghost GSX stripe. I think that would look bad, but it's your car- if and when you decide you want something just let me know.
Just got back to the hotel from the track, I had a blast! I ran the fastest that I have ever gone before. The car went strait down the track (most of the time). Fastest pass was: 60'...1.58 330'..4.56 1/8...7.089 MPH..96.42 1000.9.294 1/4...11.178 MPH..119.33
Thanks guys! 29.5x10.5 MT ET Drag on 15x8 buick ralley rims. The tire is spinning on the rim, so I need to get some rims that I can put screws into!
This was fun. Best pass ever. Tyler made a ton of passes, the car just keeps going great. This is still the same engine/tranny combo from the daily driver combo in the red car. Pump gas 464. Still looking to add a little spray and finish the paint and rear suspension. 10's or better on the way!!!!!
Wow great work guys to go from 11.92 to 11.17 well done thats impresive. You should be proud of all the work you have done to this car. Hats off to you Jamie:TU:
Thanks Jamie! Looks like we are going to have to spend some money elsewhere other than on the suspension and juice this winter. On my last qualifying pass the car launched so hard it shot the radiator from under the support into the fan. :eek2: :af: Coolant was everywhere, but it didn't get on the track, luckily. I want to get a new aluminum radiator and some dual electic fans, and an electric water pump for it. I think it might pick up maybe a .1 for not having to spin the water pump and the fan.
Forgot to mention, I weighed the car at the track. It weighed 3000#. 3235 with me in it. I will post pictures shortly.
Saw a vid someone posted of you on Streetfire: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Ford-Vs-Buick-2009_714378.htm Jon
