Thanks, we also bought clamps that wrap around the line, and you can screw them into the frame. Thats what we did on my GSX, and havent had any problems with it.
Ouch.... I only wish it was not a set of Post doors you had cut up. For us Post Sedan guys.... a nice set of doors is hard to find. Dan.
I understand your pain........But, remember Post Race Cars Are Very Cool ! When Tyler Drags the back bumper that will make you smile again !! Tyler, When you see blue sky, hold the wheel in the center, AND DO NOT LET OUT OF IT !! If you feel like it is turning to one side LIGHTLY dragging the brake should even you out.......Enjoy !
These doors are not exactly in the best shape. Where the handles go is all bent up, and there is quite a bit of bondo covering up the metal. Hopefully you will forgive me when you see what becomes of the car when we finish.:TU:
Thanks hopefully when I see blue sky for the first time I will be able to remember to do that! I can't imagine what I will do the first time that happens, hopefully I won't let instict set in and slam the brakes, and slam the front of the car down.
I got the braces out of the door. With no damage to the door skin! Also I cut out extra metal where the rear door panel goes. Going to cover that up with aluminum. I also pulled the front suspension apart, so that I can install the disc brakes. I will try to take pictures tomorrow.
Great progress! Your car will be a lot like mine so we will have to keep an eye on each others builds! Mark Burton is building my car right now, and I am using the twin turbo 350 as well. I have a line on some forged rods for your build if you are interested PM me since it sounds like you will be in the power range about stock rods!. Sean
Thanks Sean, I think I am going to do some research on what all I need to do to run SBC rods, I think they are alot cheaper. o No:
Great progress with the project.:TU: I wish i had the room you did to work on mine. Keep the pictures and updates coming.
Bodywork is almost complete! Just a little bit of sanding then its ready for paint and primer. Everything is starting to come together, so hopefully I can get it all done soon.
Here you go! :TU: I also finished scraping all the crud off of the botom of the car. I painted it gloss grey so that when I have to get under the car to work on stuff it will be much easier to see.
Anybody know if I can cut these out? They are pretty thick metal, are these just braces for the deck lid? And can I do without them?
Tyler, I would not cut them out. Over all weight reduction of the car is a great goal but these are in a location where the weight will help you. "]
Good point Buickboy. Any other areas of weight reduction we may have overlooked? Tyler ordered the cage yesterday, so we can get that in, and start putting the fuel cell, battery, and interior. It's coming along nice. All it takes is money. He would accept sponsorships too
Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get the trunk lid hinges out? Should I just cut them or is there another way?
