Bill,Pat, this is a sad loss of a member of your family. I am so sorry that you have to suffer and grieve. Where you are,Rebecca and I have been and it's a hurting place. Consider yourselves hugged all the way from North Carolina

Sorry for your loss Bill and Pat. I've been there and it is one of the hardest things in life to have to deal with.

A special thanks to Bill and GoKitty, AND all the guys I love here, and always listen to me rag about BS. Ive lost both folks; dad sank on a tugboat and never recovered, and mom woke up one morning, had her coffee and told her friend she felt tired and took a nap. All that stuff was a long time ago and far, far away. Pat and the boys are all the family I have and any one of them takes a giant bite outa life.

Love yer wife, yer kids, yer pets and even that ol' damn Buick that has a rod knock, because when they go, they cant be replaced. I have to interject a little humor here, because if I dont, I fear another outburst; and it aint purdy.

Thanks so much guys from all of us here!

BULLITT getting his nap in just a few weeks ago. Smile for him please! BONER always grabs the other end of the couch, loving dad's pillow LOL. A lot less crowding now:(. ws

Did it like a boat job Bill LOL... Ran a bead (small) of construction adhesive (Locktite 3X) between the screw holes on the door AND between the curved gasket and mirror bracket. The 3X works well with polypropylene plastics (think battery case). I am guessing the chinaplastic thats 3D printed is the cheapest plastic wire they can find to print the base gasket. I think the concave shape of the door mount helps act as a saddle. IT IS MOTIONLESS! ws

I had to debate on the position. The vent window did a pretty good job of refracting images through the glass into the mirror. The passenger side was mounted about 6-8" to the rear to clear the vent window and left a clear shot of the rear 1/4 of the car. Seems like everyone of the cars has damage to the passenger side rear 1/4 corner. I also stuck a 4" convex mirror on the OEM and the several corners that need negotiating to get it parked are now as clear as a bell. Just my own opinion. It also clears the vent for 100% plus opening. z5.jpg

I think I’m going to add the convex mirror also. I matched mine to the drivers side. Clears the vent but view is terrible.

On my post car I offset the mirror to the back of the car to get a better view! Most people have not noticed this! I had to do this as you said the view is obscured by the post itself from the drivers seat! The height of the driver seems to play a part in this! My buddy who also has a post is shorter than me and we offset and put the passenger side mirror in a different position even than those on my post! Convex looks like it works even better!

Yeah.. with the DS mirror at least you can judge what youre seeing even though its obscured looking through another piece of glass plus the chrome trim on the vent that splits the image even more. To open the DS vent all the way, that mirror has to be way forward on the door which exacerbates the viewing problem... ws

Well I was gonna keep it a surprise, but Pat. OJ, and lil' OJ are two hours away finishing a 1000 mile trip to pick up out new little boy. He came from Bath Springs Tenn. about 100 miles east of Memphis. He kooks like a champ! So he's full of energy and Pat suggested "Spunky" as a name ... GREAT. Cant want to get him to the Vet for a check up... "Hey doc, check out my little BONER , and the new kid SPUNK". Oughta get some laughs! It may just stick; no pun intended! Ol' girl made the trip non stop except for 6 hours for a motel crash in Padukey. Spunk just turned 11 weeks old, OH BOY! ws

Thanks Frank! His rear tires are already bald! Right now he's been lightened for grudge racing ( curbs in at about 5-6 lbs) but what a character. Pat pulled back in at 0130 this morning and got everything and crashed on the couch next to his cage. Slept all night and has already mastered the 4 steps to "outside", taken 3 dumps out there and a bunch-o-weewees. Stays within 3 feet of me with no leash. Teething and the whole bit there so we'll just feed him Boston Baked beans LOL... he dont need any help there... he's running on methane right now. He's a keeper. Damn BeanTown anyway LOL... ws

Thanks guys! Im a little late to the party. Pal from Illinois was up here, then puppy stuff, chipped at the vet today, plus the soffit/fascia guy showed up today to repair the eve face plus new aluminum on garage "A".
The knucklehead that sided and roofed it before we bought it had put the aluminum fascia ON TOP of the drip edge channeling all the roof runoff behind the fascia. So all new Al plus the probably 20 feet of GAWN eve facing and the ends of about 3-4 rafters by 6" did the whole job in 6 hours. Quoted it at 475.00 and found more rot. Another trip for lumber and he honored the quote. RIGHT QUOTES MATTER! Ill call him again if needed.
Calling the new kid SPIKE. We were gonna call him SPUNK but with BONER just didnt seem right LOL...Curb weight was 8.4 lbs at 11 weeks. ws

WOW... June 29th last post!! ! Im losing it. Well Lil' SPIKE is doing pretty good so far. Started him in kidney garden (!) for a first class yesterday. Training is a chore with 2 other nosy dogs in the way for sure, but we'll get it!

On a serious note, has anyone dealt with the harbor fright jackstand deal? I just got an email from the head cheese at HF about the recall. First the ratchet teeth needed new dentures, now the gulag welding class didnt certify on their coupons (welders will know what I'm saying) and sent them out just the same. I sincerely doubt that "Pittsburgh" brand was sold solely at HF. Tomorrow, I am going hafta drag about 6 jacks outa the shop and drive the 90 mile round trip for an exchange. Poor welds and china-iron; great.
Probably tossed that old rusty 64 Electra frame into the kiln with all the tires and upholstery for "THE PRODUCT".

On the old movie channel is a Edward G Robinson flick about a company during WWII that sent out bad airplane crankshafts. Several had failures, killing the pilots/crews. He ended up being sent to prison on treasonous charges. Think that would happen today??

Any thoughts guys? I work alone out back in the shop all winter, and the last round was the whole car up on 4 corners with stands of unknown origin. I guess its on me for a while eh?? ws

    To the Harbor Freight Community:

I'm writing to apologize. I often reach out to tell you about Harbor Freight's commitment to quality and all the investments we've made to deliver quality tools at the lowest prices. Your trust matters deeply to me and I'm proud of how far we've come. So when we have a product recall, it hurts.

A few months ago, we recalled our Pittsburgh 3 ton and 6 ton steel jack stands (SKUs 56371, 61196 and 61197) due to a manufacturer's defect. We asked customers to return them and receive a gift card that could be used to purchase replacement jack stands. I felt terrible about that recall because you should never have a concern about the safety of any of our products.

Today, I feel even worse. I'm disappointed and embarrassed because we've identified a welding defect in a small number of the Pittsburgh 3 ton steel jack stands (SKU 56373) that replaced the recalled jack stands. We're now adding these jack stands to our recall. Unfortunately, this defect wasn't discovered during the initial recall investigation. If you own these jack stands or any of the jack stands in our original recall, whether or not you have had an issue with them, please stop using them immediately and bring them back to your local Harbor Freight Store for a full cash refund or store credit (see details here).

We have investigated all of our other Pittsburgh 3 ton steel jack stands (SKUs 56371, 56372 and 57308) as well as the Pittsburgh 6 ton steel jack stands (SKUs 56368, 56369 and 56370) and Pittsburgh 12 ton steel jack stands (SKUs 56374 and 56375) and did not find the defect. Although none of these other jack stands are being recalled, if you own any of them and have any concern whatsoever, please bring them back and we'll give you a full cash refund or store credit for those as well.

I want to apologize to all of our customers. While we've dramatically grown our team of engineers and inspectors, and intensified our tests and inspections, I assure you that the lessons learned from this will drive further improvement.

As the owner and founder of Harbor Freight, I want you to know that we stand behind every product we sell and that safety will always be our top priority.

    Sincerely,

Found a garage sale today out in the country where the owner was a DNR guy and happened to race Camaros. Picked up a K-D windshield trim tool; $2.00 (made in USA!) , a Sun Super Tach II for $3.00 and a brand new set of core support bushings and hardware for $2.00. Theres also a ton of (un-organized) hot rod magazines and a speedometer that matches the Auto-Meter tach that'll be 75% off on the final sale prices Sunday. Probably $5.00. Those two will make a nice set for a rat rod combo. ws
