Good running car,.. I figured your comp. was over 11-1, good numbers on the heads, who did the port work..

Me & my son just ran his 70' post skylark at the strip just before they closed for the winter,.. using the stock 350 block and doing a Top end build on it and ran 13:24 at 102.20... A lot of work in the heads..

I thought I would add my combination since its quite a bit different than what is in the thread so far. I restored a 70 GS 455 convertible for my father in law and his car got all new engine parts etc. He gave me the rotating assembly that was in his car when he got it and AMP machined a block and put a performance valve job on my 70 heads. The machine work and valve job cost $1800, the rest of the parts I had left over from a prior build. I raced my car heavily in stock appearing racing from 2000 to about 2005 or so.

1971 block 0.040 sealed power pistons, left over parts from my father in laws convertible
    70 cast iron heads
Stamped steel rocker, will move to 67-69 rockers this winter
    10.0:1 actual
    70 stock intake, ported
    Ported exhaust manifolds
    Norm Dihle QJ 800 cfm
    Comp cam 230/241 on a 116 in at 115, ~15 vac
    ATI 10, 3.73
    4000 lbs with me
    12.27 @ 108.4 mph, 1.64 60 on drag radials

After I ran the 12.28 the rear axle made a lot of noise, I broke the spider gears and found out the axle tubes were bent forward, the rear tires had about 3/16 toe in! I plan a few changes this winter and hope for 11.99 in good air next year!

That's not bad at all. The tight lsa's help pull air thru the unported heads. Were you turning full acc's and thru mufflers as well?

Thanks Ray! It idles smooth and is quiet. I have two long case mufflers plus bullets behind the axle all with 2.5" exhaust. As I said before, I'm working on a few things and hope for 11.99 next year.
