Some guys/gals may be waiting for a final rules determination, since mods may need to be made to their cars, if possible, to fit the new rules. Gary
That deadline has came and past, May was the cuttoff for rules changes, wasn't enough discussion or quantity of input in my opinion to merit any changes. I added the new exhaust rule as an attempt to change something small to set us apart from the super 16 other than being slower. There wasn't any negative feedback that I recall so I implemented it, which can be found in Post #1. So long story short rules remain the same minus the exhaust change which is very minor but its something in a positive direction imo
I agree and like I said b4 I would love to see us be able to evolve into the class that everbody talks about and builds cars just to run it, like the early GSE days. Nothing makes cars run faster than competition . Right now we need to just concentrate on participation and build the interest up in spectators to come out and play. I am looking forward to this year more than any other.
Bump and reminder for the Sponsors the deadline has passed to be recognized in the GSXtra. So if possible in the coming weeks start trying to get them sent in, Oct is on its way Thanks Ethan Mathis 102 otts shoals rd Roebuck SC 29376
Whichever you feel comfortable with, the theory behind getting it before hand was to mainly get the info in the GSXtra and to make sure the pot was what it is advertised to be on raceday. But im sure it wont be an issue I wont be hard to find will have my Orange Car, a Black and Gold 71X Tribute and my old mans Triple Black 70 GS ,...rolling 3 deep this year
For sure count on the 50 I personally was giving, and I'll bring the tires, and straps from Advantage Trailer when I come down.
Hugger, Due to recent family issues the raining champ won't be there to protect his crown. Hopefully, nxt year I'll be there to tear it up again. Have a blast and hope everyone stays safe "going fast with class".
Hope all is well and or works out well, You and Big Blue will definitely be missed man, look forward to seeing that fine machine asap.
Just a reminder for All GSR racers, the rules remain unchanged this year with the EXCEPTION of the exhaust system, which is minor and just a babystep to set the GSR apart a little , the rule particulars can be seen in the first post. Its my humble opinion that GSR represents Going Fast with Class better than any other, so if you hadn't planned on running but will be bringing your street strip machine join the class and help us put on a show and maybe you'll take home some cash.
I have the Apollo who has been racing in the GSR class for the last three years. My car has full interior, stock suspension, all steel except hood, steel original bumpers, no electronics, no trans brake. Now you add mufflers which eliminates me this year after I have participated in the class. I race with Pete VanTholen and Dan Rocco in the Chicagoland Buick Club who are both sponsoring this class. The reason I started racing in this class was to race with friends. After racing in this class for the last three years all of a sudden you add ONE rule change for mufflers which now eliminates ME. I'm sure all those who support the muffler rule change, including yourself, already have them on their cars. My collectors will not support mufflers and have no bolt holes. I cannot spend the money it would take to convert my car over to a muffler car. Too Costly and not worth it to fit into a class. Just wanted to let you know that one arbitrary rule eliminates someone who has supported this class. I don't come on the V8 Buick board and didn't know about this until last weekend at our last race of the season when Pete VanTholen informed me of the muffler rule change. I'm not asking you to change the muffler rule and I do not want you to change the muffler rule as I will race Q16 / B1. However, three years ago I don't think there were ten cars in the class. Last year was a big improvement in car count. Now that the class is growing I guess it's time to start making up rules that weren't there before and eliminate past participants. Did you ever consider there are previous class participants from last year who like myself don't come on the V8 Buick site and will show up in two weeks expecting to race AGAIN in GSR and "Oh Well" sorry but rules changed this year go race somewhere else. Real Nice...
Joe, im sorry you feel this way but by your own admission you said you'll just run B1 or S16 so that tells me that if you can fit in all 3 classes that a little separation is needed. Which is why i implemented the exhaust rule no one on here has spoken for or against it. It is nothing more than exactly what is said it is just a babystep to set us apart just a little. As to the lack of time you feel you have that in my opinion is no fault of mine you've been a member on here since 2005 you making the decision not come on and check things out ocassionally is your issue especially when you plan to run a class. if im looking at a field of 5 legal cars and 10 illegal cars than of course a logical decision will be made at that time and vise versa if 10 or more cars all got the memo and only 2 didnt then no they wont be allowed, as you said there is always B1 or S16. The muffler situation you feel your in with your car doesnt quite make sense to me personally, sounds like nothing a slip fit or welded Vband couldnt fix, and be very economical even, but its your car and if you just dont want some form of exhaust then fine. i fully intend to get plenty of face to face feedback from current and potential GSR racers this year and will also be bringing surveys to see what direction and or changes if any guys want , it just seems a shame to not use this class as a way to get people excited and actually build cars just to run GSR and see people run to the starting line when they hear GSR called to lanes.
Well said Hugger. Plus, didn't the old GSE class require exhaust if I'm not mistaken? So it's really not a rule change, just enforcing the original. That's the end of my 2 pennies I'm out......
