2 pennies and you'll get change...:) I never ran alphabet soup classes until I was asked to run GSR. I know nothing about GSE but what does GSE have to do with GSR? If mufflers were a rule, then you should have enforced that rule and not asked me or anyone else to participate in GSR who did not have mufflers. But you were hurting for cars then and I guess you had to do what you had to do even if it was wrong and deceptive to those you were recruiting for the the GSR class.

I understand I will be the bad guy on this forum for speaking my opinion about this. So go ahead and throw **** at me since I'm the underdog.......Mob Rule. But let me show you how rediculous a muffler rule is for this class. First of all this was never intended to be a stock or stock appearing class that I know of. GSCA already has those classes in place. From what I understood this class was for those who had Buick race cars that didn't fit in the stock or stock appearing class.

    MY POINT IS AS FOLLOWS:

    GSR rules:
Skylark/GS A Body ... Apollo's were just fine when you needed a bigger car count.
Buick V8 powered ... Good Rule
Any power adder is LEGAL ..... NO RESTRUCTIONS (turbo, nitrous, blower, big cube motor, etc)
Any tire size or construction is LEGAL ... NO RESTRICTIONS (Slicks OK, Wide tire OK, Radials OK, ANY SIZE OK)
Any size engine is LEGAL... NO RESTRICTIONS anywhere from 236 to 560 cu. in. aluminum or iron OK)
Any interior is LEGAL ... NO RESTRICTIONS Full interior, fiberglass interior, No interior -- All OK)
Fiberglass panels are LEGAL ... NO RESTRICTIONS fiberglass panels or all fiberglass car -- OK
Transmission ... NO RESTRICTION trans brake OK
Any suspension is LEGAL ... NO RESTRICTIONS stock, four link, caltracs, All OK)
Deep Staging ... Someone on here wants to deep stage so IT's OK
Etc etc, its LEGAL. ... Etc Etc is LEGAL....NO RESTRICTIONS Bring what ya got and race in GSR

BUT*******BUT******* YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MUFFLER :Dou:

NO RESTRICIONS to anything else but you have to have mufflers. Does ANYBODY see my point...?

But I do hope everybody has a safe and fun GS Nationals because in the end that is all that matters. Good luck to all of you. You're lucky to have the guys from the Chicagoland Buick Club racing with you as they are ALL great people, family oriented, and fun to be with. I'll put my money on one of my Chicago boys to take the win in GSR. OK I'm done, start slamming me...

Dude it's mufflers. Either run them and run the class or don't it's that simple. This isn't my class so don't single me out with quotes I'm just a participant. GSR was started to replace the old GSE class that wasn't ran anymore, and from what I remembered in the 90's when I was a teen, was a class that had streetable race cars. Meaning they had full interiors, glass windows,FULL EXHAUST,limited wheel width, had to have a current registration, insurance, and pass a short drive thru town to run that class. Nothing about full race cars loaded up with electronics, wheels as wide as you want them, exhaust as loud as you want, trailer queens. The reason for the exhaust rule was due to enough class participant wanting the class to be more like it used to be when it was GSE. So Hugger took comments into consideration and made a small change to this yrs event so car count wouldn't be impacted to heavily. GSR was never intended to be an extension of S/16 by having cars that couldn't qualify fall back to GSR just because it paid better than B1. Well that's the way it will head without limitations. GSR is for fast legal streetable cars to haul ass down the quarter mile. I always thought racers are supposed to be tuff, ridged, grass root people and all I see anymore are a bunch of whiners and complainers at tracks that run their mouths more than their cars. I say to those type of racers, shut the F up,suit up,and race their damn car. This was in no way a slam on you either Joe:beer

Here are the old GSE rules and that's what Hugger is trying to get close to. Can't do it exactly to these since low car turn out was the demise of the GSE,but you get the point. Pay attention to rule #6 Joe and Hugger is only asking that all cars have mufflers.
