"its pretty darn close to original.little too much gloss..." Tim, Can they mix the semi-gloss black powder with the flat black powder to cut down on the gloss a little, giving it a more "correct" appearance? Are you going to do the core support, a-arms, fender wells, and everything else the same color (semi gloss I'm assuming)? What is your website URL?
Well I'm not sure if they can do that or not. You would have to ask them. I chose the "vulcan black" after looking at many different blacks, it seemed the closest to me and they carry it in house. If you opt for a special powder, you have to buy it yourself whether it gets used up or not. I am happy with my choice, it looks awesome. And when I say slightly too much gloss, I do mean SLIGHTLY too much. Picture of frame section in natural light attached (dark but you get the idea). Anyway, I did the frame, swaybars, springs, pulleys, rear control arms, front control arms (for a different car, ones on this machine are painted), chassis braces, bumper brackets, tranny crossmember, tranny crossmember brackets, diff cover and a few other parts...cheap at $400.00 Canadian. I like to mix and match parts, that way you get the separation in the various blacks. I already had a set of forward controls arms rebuilt and ready to go, chose to use those. later Tim
Is the fact that mounting holes are now of a less diameter a problem especially for close tolerance bushings?
Guys, have you been to my website??? Click on the convertible page, then the chassis section...a lot of this info is there already. I had no issues with bushings, bolts, clips or anything else. Powdercoating is slightly thicker, but not really thick. later Tim
And of course, its also linked under my username in the upper LH corner of each post....perhaps some didn't know that it where the the links and options are for each person....just click on it and another window opens. later Tim
Jim, If you want to send me those pics as they were originally taken, I can resize them so they're big enough to see but not too big in the file size department. I think everyone would like as good a look at these as can be had..... Just a suggestion....looks great, by the way!!
Jim, Wow,your car looks great and is coming along very well! :TU: Very nice job!-can't wait to see it next year at Salem!
No more "air" springs!! Jim!!! Buddy!!! You "removed" the air springs in the front suspension! George N and I were really looking for a ride with that new style spring...
www.gastanks.com It is only clear coated. Same for the straps. That is how they came from the factory back in 70. For a 70 you have to transplant the neck. If you get a 69 from the place scott uses it will bolt up and come with a neck --all for about 170.00
here is another pic of the gas tank - I am experimenting with different resolutions to get a bigger (hopefully) picture.
Jim, If you want to send me the pics you have, unedited (right from your camera) I'll resize and send them back to you. My photo editing has gotten pretty good as of late....
Jim, Should the gas tank on a 71 gs also be clear coated? The bolts you have for your rear end cover look to be cad. plated - is that proper for a 70,71? I always thought they were just black.
