Those pictures of your car look awesome,Jim! Very nice job and your car is coming along very well. Attention to detail, that's what it's all about.
Jim, I noticed in your "parts hanging from fan" pic, that all items are black??? Is that primer? Looks like one of them is the oil pressure sender?? I think the oil pressure is cad plated??? Right, JW or Duane? The one part on the right side, the engine wiring harness "holder" that attaches to the pass. side valve cover upper screw is not black in all my yarding/dismantling cars experience. I have always seen that item painted with red engine paint. Maybe it was different for GSX models???
as for the sender I have seen NOS and it was black. They are no longer available. I have seen some diifferent later substitutes that were plated. On the wirie guide you are right on the red.
All the original Oil pressure sending units that I have seen are black, the NOS units were cad plated. Again, do not trust NOS parts for plating/color, they lie. Duane
Jim, X is looking great!! Where did you purchase the original style sound deadener and vapor barriers from? Tks! Eric
www.amesperf.com The vapor barriers are not like the originals. I just missed the last of the old stuff which were kind of a waxed paper. These shown are thick mylars attached with a 1/4 inch windshield kit. Better technology but not original. Some may not realize that the same type paper asphalt deadner came behind the opera lights under the sail panels. We also installed the original die cut jute deadners under the new package tray, and truck divider as they were missing. Also the under the dash pad and the firewall pads were replaced with die cut pieces as they were only partly there. The areas were first scrubbed and primed. These jute pieces came from www.opgi.com
Thanks Jim. BTW- Could you shoot me a pic of the trans tunnel opening. The opening in my car was unfortunately opened up for a different shifter with reverse lockout back in the day. Thanks! :TU: Eric ho660@yahoo.com
David Copperfield and I were working on the X today. We hated go to the trouble of hooking up the cherry picker so we just floated it over to the engine bay.
Welp there is something you could do Cole. After all it is the Xmas season. Could you sneak out a little of the slock finish for me? As you can see our mill is missing that special touch.
