Okay, just sent an email to the sales manager at Legendary with an appeal for factorty style Tri-Shield mats, to be "the cherry on top" of there already high quality products.

I hope they will see the benefit of the final product to set off there interiors, and be able to justify production.

I'll let you know if I hear any news back.

    Keep those fingers crossed :TU:

    Yes...yes... Yes!!!!!

    I am EXCITED GUYS!!!!

I just got an e mail from the President of Legendary Auto Interiors and he said if we can come up with a like new set of mats to send to them (they will issue a RA # ) but he said they would consider doing these for us.

Not a definite but it sounds like a "defintie maybe" anyway!

This could be what we have been waiting for.I have a contact name and number from Mr. Beckenbach to discuss the details with on the pictures and samples he requested, and additional details.

I have some decent black mats I will go take pictures of now, but ultimately we will need some nice black mats to send.

I guess we could send the reproduction ones that are no longer available (I forget who use to supply them) or obviously originals.

Anyhow I am excited here :TU:

Here is what Mr. Beckenbach wrote:

    Dear Mr Fritz,

Thank you for your kind words regarding Legendary Auto Interiors. We do pride ourselves on producing NOTHING BUT THE BEST!!! as you know.

We do offer a floor mat that does feature the trishield emblem however this is our CUSTOM Vintage line and is not exactly like the original.

We would be willing to entertain producing an ORIGINAL style mat. In order to reproduce this item we would need a near perfect set of ORIGINALS.

To start, it would be helpful if you could provide some digital photos of any sets you, or your friends may have.

Thank you once again for your kind words, and continued interest, support and of course your business!!!

    Martin J Beckenbach, President

    New thread

Yes, Ian we will have to see how it goes but wouldn't it be great to have nice shiny, fresh rubber Tri-Shield mats in our cars this time next year?

All we can do is keep pluggin :TU:

BTW I had to start a new thread to announce the possibility of these being done and more importantly locate the front mats we will need to pull this deal off.

    Monday Morning

First thing this morning I received an email from the Pres. of Legendary.

He said they are continuing to evaluate doing the mats and to go ahead and secure a set of the nicest front mats we can.

Lee Bacon has already stepped forward with NOS rears, so Thank You again Mister Lee

These items will be returned, and can be sent directly to Legendary complete with a RA#.

Please PM me if you can help and I will give you the name, and contact number of the appropriate person at Legendary you need to speak with.

I think the President at Legendary is just as excited about this as us, as he shared more about "Stepping up to the plate again for us and our hobby with complete door panels"

He is in our corner, so I hope the evaluation process returns a positive answer

    what style

before you get to carreid away, you need to decide what size and syle, are you looking at mats for the 70-72 "A" body or??? Even the rear handy mats varied in size between the 60's and 70's so one stye mat is certainly not going to help all.

    Keith,

Thank you for your input, and the info on the rear mats :TU:

This is exactly why I am trying to get as much possible attention to this topic, so we can clarify all this information.

The last thing we need is no input now but plenty of complaining to the manufacturer once the incorrect item is made.

As I have been stressing I have no good samples to go off of and I am requesting pictures and measurements of those who are willing to help.

I know there have to be some folks out there with part numbers and application charts if they chose to help.We need this first since there seems to be several differnt sizes for the front and rear mats.

I will not embarrass Legendary by having them reproduce anything that will taint there reputation, so if we cannot figure this out I'll just tell them we cannot determine what is correct and scrap any possible plans.

I'm just being matter of fact about this, if we don't have enough input into getting the correct sample why should the manufacturer go out of their way for us and get stuck with a bunch of incorrect items.

I've got someone who is excited about possibly making these for us but I'd like it to be a community project to research what we want made so we are all involved.

    Anyone want to help?

    Update

Dan said "I'd be in for a complete set of black although I'd prefer red."

    Dan,

They are sending me a color sample chart this week, and if we get the green light on this they DO want to offer colors.

Legendary's owner said these will be "generic" colors rather than trying to match colors on 30 plus year old mats in all different stages of fading.

With my experience in textile fabrics, I personally know that colors on many dyed items differs from "lot to lot" (dye lots) so I think they are smart with coming up with a good generic color and going with it :TU:

Right now we need to make sure we have the correct style mat and get it in their hands so they can say yes or no.

I do know they are very excited about making these though, just have to hammer out the details :TU:

    Called and left a message...

On September the 14th I called Legendary and left a voice message for the sales department letting them know that I was a customer and there was activity on this board indicating that the floormats might be reproduced, and let them know that I would love to have a set.

    Way to go John!
And all the others that have helped John get this ball rolling.

    Thanks

    Need Front Mats Still

    There ya go Bert :TU:

They need to hear that as much as possible!

Now if I can just get those front darn mats to send them. :Dou:

No one has a complete unaltered front set? :puzzled:  :(

This is all that is holding us up.

I have to go to the hospital on Monday for a bunch of tests (reason I have been here and had so much time to devote to this).

If I have to I will drag my carcass out to the junk yards or go door to door or SOMETHING this week-end and see if I can scare up some front sets.

Just think once they get everything they need (samples, molds, etc) two months, TWO MONTHS for BRAND NEW, HIGH QUALITY, mats!!!!

If you let them keep your old ones (they must be in VERY nice condition though detail wise, although some cracking is acceptable he said) anyhow if you let them keep them you get a new set. :eek2: :Smarty:

Surely,.... (I know "quit calling you Shirley" :Dou: ) Surely, someone has a mint or NOS set out there don't you?

If you are hanging on to them and eventually they fall apart from age in storage or you use them up, wouldn't it be nice to be able to order brand new ones?

Need some help here, the time is right WHILE we have their attention, like I say if no one has anything to offer I will find something they can work with, but the key here is the "better the sample, the better the reproduction".

The time we need these is now gents, remember they can be old and have some cracking and such if the detail of the ridges, grooves,Tri Shield etc is very nice.

I don't know if these front mats would be any good or not, you can look at the pics on the link and decide. You won't offend if they are not. I might be willing to give them up, I would definitly be willing to send them in with the idea of getting them back.

    Time is up

    Jason,

Thank you for stepping up to help, I have the exact same mats here myself, even the same color.Only difference is mine still has the flap we will need and are in pretty fair condition (took a REAL hard look at them today as our time clicks away on this project).

Anyhow thank you again for the offer. If something doesn't come in tonight or first thing tomorrow (appealed on other websites also with no luck) anyhow if nothing by tomorrow, I'll just go with mine.

I know somewhere there must be better but on a scale of one to ten mine are a strong eight so guess these will be the sample for the next 2006 Buick Tri Shield reproduction mats :Do No: :TU:

Who knows I might even get a free set of mats out of it.He said if the mats are left with them (if good enogh to use that is) but if they are allowed to keep them for masters, they will not have to make "sub masters" and will give the person a brand new set.

Was hoping to hook someone else up who had a nicer set for the benefit of all of us but that isn't happening, and just proves how bad we need mats.

I called a friend I have had for 30 years (both always had GS's) and asked him for mats and he said "Hell no man, the only person I have EVER seen around here with a complete set in their cars was you!".A man with a 50k car and he has Pep Boy carpeted mats in it :Dou:

Leaving the mats there will help too.
Not making the additional sub masters will help keep the prices down for everyone also, so guess it's time to "take one for the team" huh?

I'm callin them tomorrow, wish me luck

    No problem.

I will be interested in a new set, since I am in the process of redoing my interior.
