Ah, what the hay, went ahead and reviewed the info again.

Seems the mats with the flap on some styles that I have used in my GS's over the years had the note to cut off the "flap" or "ear" due to the accelerator pedal being mounted to the floor (at the heel) where as it is suspended above the mats in most mid size cars (Thanks to Rick, "Buickbonehead" for remembering that on the other post:TU: )

Here is what the note looked like for full sized applications, but *****this is NOT*****(!) the style mats that were sent to Legendary as they wanted something out of a 70-72 that would also fit most of the 1960's mid size too.

    So they got 1972 mats.

Still here is the picture of the other mats I own with that note for full size

Are the mats that are being discussed for specific years and models? I have a 65' Skylark, would they be the correct ones for my car?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,

They are from a 72 Skylark, so I would think they'd be fine in your 65.

I know I will be using them in my 60 Electra and several other folks will be using them regardless if they are technically correct as long as they fit and look good:TU:

What about in a 63 Cat? Hell, I'm not politically correct in this either. Actually I'm not sure as to what they should look like originally anyway...but I'm in. So much for my lunch money and allowance for the month! :TU:

    DL,

Here ya go brother, use your own judgement, but looks the same as the original sample pictured to me.:TU:

They are most likely offering "generic" colors (can see in previous posts but don't remember the actual post number, and I cannot repost as it says it is a duplicate when I try and post again, so you will need to dig a little) .

You will need to be the judge on how close it is for your taste (color).I imagine they will send out samples when available.

OK I just saw your post #161 sorry. So are they being manufactured with out the cut off flap ? Or leaving it up to the purchaser ?

Thanks for your efforts on this,,,

DL, thanks for reposting the post number, I tried to find it for you last night but had to give up.

Want to make sure we are on the same page though, I am showing post #144 unless it is #161 in one of the other threads on this.Either way here is a link for anyone else wanting to see the color chart they sent.

The mat will be just as in the picture with the flap, hopefully this will be a situation where full size car applications can just cut the flap off for floor mounted accelerator pedal, verses the suspended type in the Skylarks.

    Hope that helps:TU:

John, as you can imagine,we are all anxiously awaiting the introduction of these mats. It will be great to have these available.

Again thanks for your efforts and it looks as though these mats will become reality soon.

    Carl,

Thank you for the kind words, really anxious to hear back from Legendary on the status of the samples they are to send me, and also how they want us to place our orders.

I definitely have a new appreciation (although I have experience from our family business also) for the level of committment necessary to keep one of these things moving forward, and keeping it all on course. Glad it is almost here too:TU:

Just have to hang on a LITTLE...... longer:pray:

    GM Approval!

Well, what has it been now since we started discussing the need for these? A year?

Well, looks like most of the hard work and red tape is done.

Here is the update from today 7/16/07 the last thing we needed from GM.

"John - I got the amendment back form GM today!!! We are good to go with production of the Buick floormats. Please spread the word on the forum. We will putting in all the pre-orders first thing tomorrow (which is quite a few) so tell everyone to allow 3-4 weeks on delivery cause we'll be backed up in production till we can get all the initial orders sent out. Thanks again for all your research." :TU:

    Re: GM Approval!

Legendary just took my name and number, no credit card info. So I guess I should expect a call from them soon? Or should I just call up again soon?

    >>I just got off the phone with Heather from Legendary (same girl who took my order for my '71 custom sandalwood bucket seat covers). She said that the mats would be in production and shipped out in 3-4 weeks for those people who preordered them. They are $175 a set. She's sending me some samples of various shades of tan or close colors they have so I can pick before ordering.
