Having run hydraulic lifters in a NHRA stocker, you might be suprised how high you can wind when the lifters are adjuster adjusted all the way out. I even adjusted the lifters with a .003 feeler guage, no preload at all. 7000+ rpm was no problem.

True, and most would consider that within the spirit of the rules seeing as it's an adjustment.

It's when the lifter travel is mechanically restricted, and or non stock lifter materials, and or very light valvetrain compenents are added which allow very aggressive lobes that many think is un-sportsman like conduct.

The trophy and prize money is worth it though.

Were all in agreement Bob knows his stuff. What he has acomplished in a 70 Hemi Cuda is nothing less than impressive. I can't even imagine what he could do in a lighter car with way more overhang and a solid lifter Hemi. He might even give the corvette's a run for their money..

Instead of complaining about other people's stuff why don't you stop the whining get your wallet out clear the cob webs and spend some of that money to make your stuff faster. You complain when you know nothing of the engine builder. Ray Barton has built 426 cube motors with no nitrose and stock 68 carbs, cast iron blocks and heads well over 1000 horsepower. if he can do that who says he can't build a stocker in the 600 plus horpower range. Personally I would love to see some of the other guys spend some money and make there cars faster.
Don't bad mouth anyone till you know them You all sound like a bunch of gossipy school girls. so and so did this and that blah blah blah grow up

It called F%$#ing PURE Stock it isnt about spending the most money it goes against the word PURE to do much of whats been done by many. You want to run faster build a FAST car .

Give it a rest allready if someone has money and wants to build a car and it is very fast and falls in the rules, who are you guys to stick your noses in his business, what are you the federal government. If thats how someone chooses to spend there money then great more power to them who cares if it Ford , Moopar chevy Buick etc.. let them build it the way they want to within the rules and go have fun isn't that the point of this whole race is to have fun, some people just have a little more of a competitive side. You people sound like children grow up and lets go have fun. Besides your paired against someone who runs close to the same ET anyway.
Hey a stock Ford doesn't go 12.42 110.82 sounds like you spent a crap load to get your car to run the way it does, good glad to see it go fast , hope you pick it up some more would be nice to see you get it in the 11's. I would love to see all the cars go real fast i don't care about brand, granted i prefer mopar but i like all musclecars in general, I will be running a Hemi gtx this year hope i can get into the 11's myself but as i found out a lot of its in the driver. horsepower doesn't matter if you can't get moving.
Look sorry if i offended all the wusses out there but why can't people just keep there noses out of every one elses business.

I didn't have $5000 in my engine .Calling people wusses isn't going to make you any friends.I have talked to your dad at the races and at the US Nationals last year he is a cool guy you should try to be more like him and less like you.

If you dont care thats fine but some of us have been doing it for longer than many of you have been old enough to drive. If a person hasn't participated they shouldn't tell the ones who have how we should feel about this.[/QUOTE]

Is this directed at me? I did compete in 2011,was a spectator at every race since 2005,and helped with two other cars the last few years.

I don't want to argue Steve, but if you are so adamant about being "Pure", then why did you go with an X-pipe? To be faster? It's allowed by the rules, but your car didn't come from the factory that way, so it shouldn't be on there, right?

An improved and approved exhuast is a big diffrence than a stocker engine making far more HP than originaly delivered by the factory. If you want to be nit pick the pure thing there are many areas to find issues.

the problem is i am like my dad too much i just say things that bother me, so i am not out to make friends especially with whiney people. i can get whining from my daughter. I like mature people who keep there nosses out of other peoples business. So from now on no more writing you got a problem with me say it to my face like a man

It's unfortunate that this project is causing so much dissention in the ranks. Ill just add this. I know Ray Barton a long time. This guy has been at the forefront of Hemi development for more years than you can imagine. He could undoubtedly teach the original engineers a thing or two about this engine. No disrespect at all to anyone, but if people think that Barton couldn't soundly eclipse the current hemi entries is just flat out dreaming. Maybe at the end of the day, he couldn't, but I knowing him, I wouldn't bet on it. Like I believe Mr Keyes stated, if its legal and he paid the man, well, what can you do??

Its kinda like getting Norm Abram to do your kitchen cabinets at your house. Be well everyone..
