Thanks for the photo, Gary. I didn't know what he looked like since we never met in person. My loss. Devon
I can’t believe he’s gone. A great guy, with great talent gone too soon. I’m thankful I was able to see him in the circle track at BG this year. I hadn’t seen him in years, so it was cool to catch up. It really sucks that you never know the last time you going see someone and say goodbye. I would like to send a donation to his wife to help with bills/funeral. Perhaps some of us on v8 Buick can take up a collection and present it to Rob Chilenski and he could present it to her. Is Rob still on the board?
Sure doesn't look like a high 10 sec car . always remember the high front end screaming down the track !!!!!! RIP GREG ! Bill
I spoke to him for a sec this year at BG as well,...I would call and ask him stupid questions when I was a kid,..and he was always there to help,...only seen his car rum a few times most memorable was at the Buicks at Bristol shown in 1999,...he inspired me and my pop to do his car stock appearing
James, Yes, we have done this in the past, when we lost a member unexpectedly, or they had life altering event happen to them. I have been wandering around in the shop all day, not believing this is real... Greg and I were working on a new shortblock for his FAST car, and I could not finish it this spring, due to the piston pins finally showing up a couple weeks ago. When last we spoke, we both were bummed we could not get it together for BG this year, but he mentioned "there is always next year".. But I guess you never know.. I am still in shock.. RIP buddy... And yes, he was one of the finest guys I knew. JW
Greg was an amazing guy and a true gentleman. He was like my older brother from another mother. I have never met a single person as kind and willing to help everyone with there cars. He truly was a Buick icon and started many people on the path of making a Buick run better then all the brand x cars out there. I met him when I was 17 years old. I bought my first car from him! Which I still have today, the Blue Stage 1 I ran for years in Junior stock. Found an add in the paper for a Buick stage 1 GS. My father was a Buick dealership mechanic and I wanted something fast, he had no interest in speed but I figured if I got a Buick he would approve! Well after buying the car from Greg and fixing it up I decided to go to the Englishtown swap meet and car show, this was around 1984. Well to my surprise I see a beautiful black GS stage 1 all cammed up driving down the strip to park. Here is Greg getting out and I was floored. He never made any mention of another Buick or anything he just sold the car to me like he had no interest in it. Well after some time we became great friends and together we built some great engines and memories for the next 40 years. Many nights spent in his basement flowing heads or my shop getting ready for the GS Nationals! . Just an amazing guy that I will miss. RIP my brother I will see you on the other side.
We took up a nice big collection at the Beaver Springs event this past weekend soon as we heard that Greg had passed. Maybe Rob can setup a PayPal for donations?
If Rob wants to set this up, by all means go ahead and use the board to publicize it and gather donations. JW
RIP Greg! Such a loss for the community. Imagine the family's loss as he is likely a icon to them as well. I recently had my big scare heart attack April 6, '22. Hug your kids, love your wife and continue making an impact on the world around you! Troy
I an absolutely shocked. What a legend in the Buick community. Greg solved my fuel starvation problem at Musclepalooza in 2011 and gave me another secondary metering rod to try. In fact, the heads on my 455 were done by him. This is so sad. I know he also has at least one son. I'm speechless.
So sorry to hear this news, just another sad reminder to live each and every day like it might be your last. RIP Greg, you added to my Buick affliction with your gift of making your Buick the best it could be!
Very sad to hear this. He did make us Buick guys proud in the FAST class and was a nice guy that I got to talk with a lot during the BPG days. RIP Greg.
