Again, I don’t know the man or his family. If anyone is planning on bringing their Buick’s tomorrow to pay tribute ( with family approval of course ) I could join in.

i dont see anyone replying to my message about getting checked for anurisms, you dont know if you have them but a ct scan will let you kno and then you can be moitred to see if they are growing and of they are they can be fixed and save your life,if they blow your history, having them kill you is preventable,i have 3,they are checked every 6 months

To tell you how serious these can be my wife’s father had one on his aorta. All of a sudden it got big and his doctor picked it up. (They actually thought he was having a heart attach at the beginning) They told him he needed immediate surgery. He of course said he was going home to think it over. His doctor said if he went home he was not coming back.

To do the surgery on the aorta, they have to cool your body down until your heart stops, then they can start the operation.

While he was in intensive care a woman came in with the same condition. They had her prepped and were cooling her down when it burst. There was nothing they could do.

All of this is scary stuff and many times comes with no warning.

I feel so sorry for the Gessler family.

We lost our aunt and a good friend both too young due to an aortic dissection. Pretty much quick and painless once it goes.

I can still remember showing my dad a video of Greg running his 72 in FAST. Watching the nose of that car raising up and staying there made my dad and I giggle and watch that video over and over. I lost my dad a few years ago but without really knowing it Greg made a memory that will last forever. Greg sure has been a rock for this community and touched a lot of people. My prayers go out to his family and he is one that this forum can never forget. If you are Buick you will never forget Greg Gessler.

Many memories of Greg, but one that stands out was doing the North East GS/GN Newsletter. A bunch of us, Greg, Myself, John Csordas, Rick Martinez and Mark Deconti would get together at Johns cousins work place. There were no PC's back then and we would all get a session on a mainframe and start typing. We would get there around 7PM, bullshit some and then get to work. Somewhere in between we would get some greasy Piazza, stop and eat and bullshit some more. Finally around 1am we would all head for home.
It was always a fun time, and was instrumental in keeping the NE Chapter together and our membership up. I'll cherish those times spent with Greg and the others. Nothing is promised in life, Greg spent his time with his wife, kids, and us Buick guys. God Speed and see you again some time.

So crushing to see this :(

I was a very young man when I first heard his name and the already legends of his talent .

Initially unknowingly, I met him in the 1980’s at Bowling Green while we were shooting the bull walking through the Nats.

He invited me to sit down and get comfortable and talk and it wasn’t for a long time till someone spotted him and addressed him that I realized he was one of my Buick hero’s.

What a great, nice, down to earth gentleman he was.

So sorry for his family as well as all of us.

God bless you & your family Greg, you touched many lives.

Well, I'll reply. I get a CT Scan twice a year because I was once a heavy smoker. Quit about 35 years ago but I have several nodules on my lungs that doc wants to keep an eye on. they have never gotten an larger but, the radiologist reported on the lasts one (this May) that it looked like I had plaque on several main arteries leading to my heart and recommended more diagnostics. So, over the past month I've had an EKG, Resting Ecc Cardiogram, and Nuclear stress test (on a treadmill). Heart doc said I got up to 80% of max heart rate too fast for my age and suggested a heart catheterization. I had it this past Friday and happy to report that the pics showed only a 10% blockage that didn't require an angioplasty or a stent. So, I'm good to go until the next CT Scan. Yes I'm a believer in preventive medicine, big time.

Deepest condolences to the Gessler family .

    some may remember .
Ritter died at the age of 54 on September 11, 2003 from an undiagnosed aortic dissection. Ritter, best known for his role as Jack Tripper on the 1970s hit television series “Three's Company,” was rehearsing that day for his new TV show, “8 Simple Rules.” He didn't feel well and was taken to a nearby medical center.

I think it's kind of function of what kind of insurance you have. I'm on Medicare with a Medi-Gap supplement so, I can go to any doctor I want that accepts Medicare whether I have symptoms or not and Medicare will pay. But some insurance companies require a referral from your primary care doctor to a specialist and you must have symptoms in order for it to be covered.

I had an Aortic Dissection about 5 years ago and I can say it came with no warning whatsoever. The survival rate is not good and I had to get transferred to a top 5 US hospital for heart related issues (St Francis) to luckily get it taken care of. As most of the forum members are around my age, I implore you to check your blood pressure regularly and live a minimally stressful life as possible.
